Voice to Text---
.Looking down into the Sea this morning I can see that overnight a southern jet developed and is now transporting moisture from along the ITCZ/Monsoon trough from out around 140 directly towards the Baja coast this morning. This could be the last Pineapple Express we see this season. We’ll see?
This multi-level moisture plume is quite broad and extends from San Filipe to the cape region. Within the plume there is a mix of dark bottomed fluffys and high whispys. I’d expect that we will see some filtered sun today but it looks like this will be an overcast day for the entire Sea of Cortez.
Looking south to the Mexican Riviera: The plume is to the north of the Riviera and sunshine will be the order of the day for the west coast of Mexico.
The Tehuantepec is calm this morning with some residual lumpy seas that should subside by this evening. No wind events are in the 3-day forecast period.
That’s what is going on in our hood. Looking now north to the west coast of America where the big honk’n low is still swirling off the Northern California coast this morning. The low will gradually work its way eastward today with shower bands spreading over northern California beginning later today. More widespread showers are expected tomorrow as the upper low nears the coast and then moves pretty much over the Bay Area late in the day. Not a lot of rain with this spring storm and only around 8000 feet will they see some light snow. Showers should taper off on Monday morning and high pressure will fill in the wake of this low.
In southern California the system will bring mostly cloudy condition over the weekend with only a slight threat of any rain tomorrow night. Dry and warmer conditions are expected Monday through Wednesday as high pressure builds over the state.
Thursday another low is forecast of arrive on the California coast bringing a good chance of rain to the entire state.
Looking now over to the southwest where it will be warm and dry over the weekend. That spring California storm will skirt across the northern part of the state on Monday and Tuesday dipping temperatures a few degrees in the southwest and only the higher elevation could see some light showers as the system passes. High pressure and a return to the unseasonably warm weather are forecast for the southwest by the middle of the week.
That’s what is going on to the north of us. Back on this side of the Fence in general the northern and central Sea will see moderate winds over the weekend and pick up to around 20 knots on Monday.
Here are the wind details for the 3-day forecast period.
The northern Sea: light NE over the weekend and mid teens on Monday.
The central Sea: moderate NE winds in the mid teens over the weekend and high teens low 20s on Monday.
The southern Sea: Puerto Escondido should see the mid teens over the next 3 days. The islands around the San Lorenzo channel and La Paz light today picking up to the mid teens tomorrow and then back to light northerlies on Monday.
The East Cape: high teens to the low 20s from the NW over the 3-day forecast period.
The Sonoran passage from Mazatlan south to Guaymas: Mazatlan north to around Los Mochas moderate NW today picking up to around 20 Sunday and Monday. The rest of the passage to just short of Guaymas around 20 from the NE for the next 3 days.
The Mexican Riviera: Mazatlan mid to high teens over the next 3 days. The Puerto Vallarta and the Cabo Corrienties region: light to moderate NW winds for the 3-day forecast period. South of Cabo Corrienties light to moderate SW winds for the next 3 days.
Temperatures continue to climb up toward the 90 degree mark. However with this cloudiness today I looks like we will have to wait a bit longer for that to happen. Most of the hights in the Sea today will be in mid 80s.

73s Y’all
