Voice to Text---
.Looking down into the Sea this morning I can see that a light plume of cirraform clouds, that’s a mix of fluffys and whispys, has moved up from this ITCZ/Monsoon trough around 120 and taken dead aim on the Baja peninsula this morning.
It looks like it will blanket the Sea from around Santa Rosalia south to the cape this morning then thin out to mostly just high whispys by this afternoon.
Looking south to the Mexican Riviera I can see that a few strands of this plume have broken off and are drifting toward Cabo Corrienties this morning. Probably not even enough to notice and it looks like the west coast of Mexico will be seeing abundant sunshine all day.
Further south high pressure in the Gulf of Mexico is inducing strong northerlies to be whistling through the Chivela pass and into the Gulf of Tehuantepec this morning. This Tehuantepecker will last into Thursday before diminishing below gale force winds. Meantime winds to 40 knots and seas to 16 feet are to be expected in the Gulf.
That’s what is going on in our hood. Looking now north to the west coast of America where it looks like western Washington will continue to have wet systems moving though all week. The forecasters up there have tossed out another teaser saying that perhaps next weekend they could see some sun. We’ll see?
Extreme northern California could be affected by the systems moving through to the north with slight chances of rain through Wednesday.
There is a low lurking out in the Pacific what will gradually move NE over the week. A cut-off low is forecast to break off this low and move to the south. The models are showing different solutions as to where this low will go. North to around the Bay Area or South to southern California. Most of the models are leaning toward the south right now.
Meantime the rest of California will be in limbo with a slight cooling trend this week waiting for the low to arrive late in the week.
In this image I can see a heavy fog bank hugging the coast from around La La land south to Turtle Bay this morning. This marine layer is forecast to extend into the inland valleys of southern California well into the late mornings.
Looking now over to the southwest where with the exception of party to mostly cloudy skies on Wednesday this week will see mostly clear skies and dry conditions as high pressure dominates the region. Temperatures will climb back into the upper 80s by tomorrow lasting the rest of the work week. A cool down is possible starting Sunday or Monday if that cut-off low moves south into southern California then east over Arizona.
That’s what is going on to the north of us. Back on this side of the Fence it looks like the Sea will be seeing light to moderate northerlies today then light to moderate southerlies for Tuesday and Wednesday.
Here are the wind details for the 3-day forecast period.
The northern Sea: moderate NW today, high teens tomorrow from the SE then light to moderate SE on Wednesday.
The central Sea: the mid teens today from the NW or NE then tomorrow and Wednesday swinging to the SE and be in mid to upper teens.
The southern Sea: the islands around the San Lorenzo channel and La Paz: light southerlies during the day over the next 3 days. Cormwell to around 14 knots starting in the early evenings.
The East Cape: in general light to very moderate for the next 3 days. Today from the NW, tomorrow the NE and Wednesday for the ESE.
The Sonoran passage from Mazatlan north to Guaymas: Moderate winds for the next 3 days, say mid teens. Today from the NW, tomorrow and Wednesday from the SW.
The Mexican Riviera: Mazatlan should see around 18 today from the SW a bit less tomorrow and then Wednesday around 13. Puerto Vallarta mostly light westerly’s for the next 3 days. Cabo Corrienties WSW for the 3-day forecast period and south of Cabo Corrienties light SW breezes for the next 3 days.
Temperatures in the Sea will start to creep back up into the low 80s today. The mid 80s for the Riviera.
