.Before looking down into the Sea this morning I’m looking out in the Pacific off the west coast. From British Columbia to southern California out to around 140 the Pacific has pretty much solid cloud cover this morning.
Yesterday there was a weak moisture plume bringing clouds into central and southern California and this morning that plume has weakened and moved south and now several broken bands of multi-level clouds are drifting over the northern and central Sea this morning. Currently the plume extends south to almost Santa Rosalia and Guaymas. It looks to me that the plume will continue moving south and south of Santa Rosalia will start to see some cloudiness later this morning.
Right now from Concepcion Bay south the skies are mostly clear.
Looking south the Mexican Riviera is also pretty much free of any clouds. There are some clouds off shore of Manzanillo this morning but in general the Riviera looks to be sunny all day.
Nothing going on in the Gulf of Tehuantepec this morning and no wind events are on the horizon.
Very little activity along the ITCZ/Monsoon trough this morning and that’s what is going on in our hood so looking now north to the west coast of America where as I mentioned thin clouds blanket the Pacific.
At the top of this image it looks like it will a galoshes day in Seattle with a mix of rain and snow on the streets. The forecasters are hinting at perhaps partial sun over the weekend. We’ll see?
Northern California is pretty much dry and clear this morning.
Southern California is seeing the northern end of this moisture plume I was just discussing and it will be slowly moving east toward Arizona today.
There is a 1028 high just off the northern California coast and a 1005 low over Needles giving cause to gusterly conditions along the southern California coast for today through Saturday.
Looking now over to the southwest where it will be mainly dry and warm today and tomorrow. The systems passing to the north will result in gusterly winds and cooler conditions over the weekend especially to the east of Tucson.
That’s what is going on to the north of us. Back on this side of the Fence in general today will see the strongest winds over the 3-day forecast and the next two days the Sea will see a mix of light NE or SE winds.
Here are the wind details for the 3-day forecast period.
The northern Sea: mostly moderate NE today and light SE Friday and Saturday.
The central Sea: light to moderate SE today and light NE on Saturday.
The southern Sea: from Puerto Escondido, the San Lorenzo channel islands and La Paz, light to moderate southerlies today and tomorrow and light NE on Saturday.
The East Cape: moderate SE today, light SE tomorrow and light NE on Saturday.
The Sonoran passage from Mazatlan to Guaymas: Mostly moderate SW winds over the 3-day forecast period.
The Mexican Riviera: Mazatlan south to Acapulco light to moderate SW winds for the 3-day forecast period.
Temperatures should be in the low to mid 80s for most locations in the Sea today.
