Voice to Text---
.Looking down into the Sea this morning I can see that the Sea of Cortez has been cloud free for the past 24 hours and the next 24 hours look just the same with no clouds on the horizon.
Very little activity along the ITCZ/Monsoon trough with virtually no convection moving off the zone this morning so it looks like the Mexican Riviera will also be seeing abundant sunshine for the next 24 hours.
The winds have abated in the Gulf of Tehuantepec however lingering ENE swell from last week continue to support 8-10 ft. seas south of 11N between 95W and 113W. They are forecast to subside to less than 8 ft by tomorrow afternoon. No new wind events are forecast for the Gulf at this time.
That’s what is going on in our hood. Looking now north to the west coast of America where the only weather on the west coast is in the Great Northwest. The storm door continues to be wide open with system after system moving though bringing rain and mountain snow to the region.
There are a couple of systems that will affect the rest of the west coast this upcoming week. One is a low out about 140 that is headed our way and another is building in the Gulf of Alaska. The models are a little iffy as to whether the two will merge, regardless the Alaska one with stay to the north and continue to bring more rain and mountain snow to the Great Northwest the other will arrive on Tuesday in northern California bringing light rain to northern and central California. The system will slide south bring a chance of some light rain to southern California later Tuesday and Wednesday.
In the wake of the California system high pressure will rebuild in the Pacific and along the west coast bringing a significant warming trend to the southland into next weekend.
Looking now over to the southwest where a slight cooling trend will continue this week, but daytime highs will remain several degrees above normal. Dry conditions can also be expected with the exception of a few showeres in the White Mountains on Wednesday and Thursday when that California system moves through the northern part of Arizona.
That’s what is going on to the north of us. Back on this side of the fence it looks like the weekend will continue to be an absolutely delightful March day in the Sea of Cortez with light to moderate southerlies and abundant sunshine.
Here are the wind details for the 3-day forecast period.
The northern Sea: light SE today, mid teens tomorrow and Tuesday.
The central Sea: mid teens from the E or SE for the 3-day forecast period.
The southern Sea from Puerto Escondido to La Paz: mid teens from the SW today and light NW on Tuesday and Wednesday.
The East Cape: light southerlies today and light to moderate NW on Tuesday and Wednesday.
The inside passage from Mazatlan to Guaymas: light to moderate SW today and tomorrow and light to moderate NW on Tuesday.
The Mexican Riviera: Mazatlan today light SW then moderate NW on Tuesday and Wednesday. Puerto Vallarta to Cabo Corrienties light to moderate NW winds for the 3-day forecast period. South of Cabo Corrienties light SW winds for the next 3 days.
Temperatures about the same as yesterday with temperatures in the mid to high 80s in the Sea. And mid 80s along the Mexican Riviera today. The Temperature in the pool is also starting to rise. It was 62 last week and here in the cove it was 69 this morning.
