Voice to Text---
.Looking down into the Sea this morning I can see that the Sea or Cortez is mostly clear this morning. There are a few fluffys in the southern crossing but that’s about it.
For the west coast of Mexico a rather weak moisture plume is rising off the ITCZ/Monsoon trough and making landfall around Zihuatanejo. It is going inland and then the circling around and any cloudiness that from Mazatlan to Manzanillo see will be from the east. Sort of an unusual pattern that has been gong on for the past 24 hours.
Further south the Tehuantepecker is expected to end this morning leaving only moderate winds in the Gulf over the weekend. This however does not open a crossing window. The seas in the Gulf will be in the 8 foot ranges until Monday. The strong winds over the past couple of days has produced a significant area of swell with 8-11 foot seas between 90 and 110W that should also subside by Monday.
That’s what is going on in our hood. Looking now north to the west coast of America where the Great Northwest continues to get heavy doses of rain and snow and that will continue all weekend.
Northern California should remain warm and dry over the weekend and then on Tuesday all signs continue to show a Pacific storm moving in bringing some cooling and moderate rain until Thursday when a ridge of high pressure will build back into the Pacific closing the storm door for at least until next weekend.
Due to a couple of lows moving though Arizona over the weekend southern California will have gusterly winds to around 45 mph in the mountains and deserts into Sunday morning. The fog off the coast will keep costal communities cool until Tuesday when they could see a chance of some light rain. Maybe?
Looking now over to the southwest where high pressure aloft will weaken over the weekend as a couple of systems move though the northern part of the state. The southwest will begin a slow cooling trend that will last well into next week. Temperatures will still be above average but a tad cooler then the 90 degree temperatures of yesterday.
That’s what is going on to the north of us. Back on this side of the Fence it looks like the Sea of Cortez will be seeing light to moderate southerlies over the weekend. That along with abundant sunshine and warm Temperatures the el Burro Chamber of Commerce is giving the weekend it highest rating of four stars.
Here are the wind details for the 3-day forecast period.
The northern Sea: light SW today then moderate SE Sunday and Monday.
The central Sea: The Guaymas/San Carlos area: moderate SE today and tomorrow and then light SE on Monday. The rest of the central Sea light SE today and moderate SE on Sunday and Monday.
The southern Sea: the La Paz area today around 20 today from the SW, mid teens tomorrow and Light SW on Monday.
The East Cape in general light to moderate WNW today then moderate easterlies on Sunday and Monday.
The inland passage along the Sonoran coast from Mazatlan to Guaymas: 15 knots or less from the SW over the 3-day forecast period.
The Mexican Riviera: light to moderate NW winds from Mazatlan to Cabo Corrienties and then mostly light SW winds south of the point.
Temperatures will be about the same as yesterday and the Sea of Cotez will see highs today in the high 70s to the mid 80s
