Voice to Text---
.Looking down into the Sea this morning I can see that there is considerable convection building along the ITCZ/Monsoon trough however most of these clouds are either remaining in place or slowly drifting toward the southern Mexican coastline. From time to time there will be an occasional plume of mostly whispys pass over the Riviera area but that’s about it for any clouds in the Sea or along the Mexican Riviera this morning.
In the Gulf of Tehuantepec there will be a week-long wind event starting this morning with 10-15 knot winds during the day increasing to 20-30 by this evening, further increasing to minimal gale by midnight. These winds should last through late Wednesday then pick up to 40-45 Wednesday evening then back to gale winds to around midday on Saturday.
That’s what was going on in our hood. Looking now north to the west coast of America where northern Washington is the only place in the west that is having any weather. From the coast to the Cascades they will be getting rain, heavy at times, all week.
The rest of the west coast under building high pressure will be in a warming trend with no rain in the forecast for the upcoming week with the storm track well to the north.
Southern California will also be warm and dry however it will be gusterly with winds to around 30 in the coastal foothills through Thursday when that high off the west coast start to move east.
Looking now over to the southwest where they will begin a warming trend today and it will be 6-8 degrees warmer than yesterday. The warming trend will continue all week as high pressure continues to build in from the west the southwest could see record highs later in the week.
That’s what is going on to the north of us. Back on this side of the Fence the gradient between that Pacific high and a 1005 trough over SW Mexico will continue to support strong winds in the Gulf today and to a lesser extent tomorrow.
Here are the wind details for the 3-day forecast period.
The northern Sea: should see 17-19 knot NW winds over the 3-day forecast period.
The central Sea: From San Francisquito to Puerto Escondido 26-30 today. Mid to low 20s tomorrow and a bit less than 20 on Wednesday.
The southern Sea: La Paz and the East Cape: Mid 20s today, high teens tomorrow and mid teens on Wednesday.
The Sonoran coast from Mazatlan to Guaymas: winds increasing from the mid teens around Mazatlan and the further north you go the wind increase to around 30 in Guaymas today. About the same pattern Tuesday and Wednesday with the winds in Guaymas diminishing to the low 20s.
The Mexican Riviera: Mazatlan will have the strongest winds today in the low 20s then the mid teens tomorrow. Puerto Vallarta moderate NW over the next 3 days.
Cabo Corrienties around 16 knots today then light Tuesday and Wednesday. Manzanillo should see the high teens today and tomorrow and low teens on Wednesday. South of Manzanillo light southerlies for the 3-day forecast period.
Temperatures were up a few degrees across the board yesterday and it looks like that will happen again today with temperatures in the high 70s.
