Voice to Text---
.Looking down into the Sea this morning I can see that the moisture plume is still with us and will continue to be with us all day. It should be mostly whispys but these are multi-level clouds so there will be some fluffys in the mix as well as periods of sun from the far northern Sea to the southern crossing today.
There were some rather dark bottomed clouds passing over the southern crossing early this morning and are now mostly between Los Mochas and Mazatlan and on shore now. South of Mazatlan the skies look to be clear today.
Looking further south after a long-lived wind event in the Gulf of Tehuantepec that included storm and gale force winds, conditions have quieted down this morning with very mild winds, however down stream from the Gulf 8-11 foot seas continue to cover much of the area between 92W-120W. A new cold front surging through the isthmus tomorrow morning will bring a return of the gale force winds to the Gulf with seas building to 16 feet by tomorrow afternoon.
That’s what is going on in our hood. Looking now north to the west coast of America where that big honk’n low I’ve been watching march across the northern Pacific has made landfall along the Washington/Oregon border this morning. It will be producing valley rain and significant snow in the Cascades through Thursday.
This system will slide south and arrive in northern California later today bringing rain, heavy at times and snow down to 2000 feet through Thursday. The higher Sierra elevations could see as much as a foot of new snow.
In southern California the storm will arrive late tomorrow bringing windy conditions, rain, perhaps a thunderbumper or two, perhaps small hail and snow down to around 3000 feet, and exit the southland on Saturday.
Looking now over to the southwest where in general the southwest will be breezy at times, otherwise generally dry and very warm during the week while waiting for that Pacific storm to arrive on Friday night. It will bring widespread valley rain and mountain snow and colder temperatures into the weekend. Bob in Herferd may want to put the liner back in his SpeedO this weekend.
That’s what is going on to the north of us. Back on this side of -the Fence very pleasant weather wind-wise is on tap for at least for the 3-day forecast period. Say ballpark 11-15 knot winds in most of the Sea.
This weekend we will see the tail end of that cold low pass through the northern Sea cooling things down a bit as it passes.
Here are the wind details for the 3-day forecast period.
The northern Sea 12-15 knot ESE today. Lighter tomorrow from the NW and then on Thursday 9-11 from the SE.
The central Sea mostly NE winds in the 10-15 knot ranges for the next 3 days.
The southern Sea: La Paz and the East Cape today around 15 knots and then diminishing to less than 10 for Wednesday and Thursday.
The outside passage Abreojos to Mag Bay will see ballpark 20K winds for the next 3 days and the rest mid to high teens.
The Sonoran coast from Mazatlan to Guaymas: Mazatlan to Los Mochas 11-15 from the NW for the next 3 days. Los mochas north to a little past the half way point 20 knots today, then diminishing to the mid to low teens for the next two days.
The Mexican Riviera Mazatlan ballpark 15 knots in the afternoon for the next 3 days. Puerto Vallarta to Cabo Corrienties light NW and south of Cabo Corrienties light SW winds for the 3-day forecast period.
Last night’s overcast kept the temperatures up overnight with most of the overnight lows in the low mid to mid 60s. Today’s highs should be in the mid 80s for the Sea today and about the same for along the west coast of Mexico.
