Voice to Text---
.Looking down into the Sea this morning I can see that the southern jet is still strong and extends well into the western tropics. It is picking up abundant moisture from along the ITCZ/Monsoon trough and transporting it over the Baja peninsula.
Last night and early this morning there was a break in the plume and there was a period of clearing over most of the Sea. As of sunrise the skies were clear over Concepción Bay but this image is showing the plume thickening to the west of the peninsula and it looks like the skies will again be overcast with these high whispys today. Within the plume there is also a mix of rather heavy multi-level clouds that are packing a lot more moisture so the high haze could turn to solid overcast at times during the day.
Looking south to the Mexican Riviera it looks like the thousand mile wide plume will be to the north of the Riviera today and abundant sunshine is in their forecast.
Further south the Gulf of Tehuantepec will continue to see winds in the 20-25 knot ranges for the 3-day forecast period. Right now it looks like a wind event could happen this weekend though.
A quick look out into the Eastern Pacific basin along the ITCZ/Monsoon trough I can see considerable convection building from around 120 out to around 140 this morning.
That’s what is going on in our hood. Looking now north to the west coast of America where the weather keeps rolling through the Great Northwest bringing rain and snow to the region. The forecasters are saying that next Monday could be a dry, no umbrella day. They might declare a holiday.
Northern California will remain dry into the weekend.
In Southern California high pressure will bring breezy offshore winds and a warming trend through Saturday with well above normal temperatures expected by the end of the week.
A more significant cooling trend will start on Sunday due to a low moving onshore.
Looking now over to the southwest where a ridge of high pressure positioned off the west coast will move east resulting in a gradual warming trend with afternoons highs above average this weekend with temperatures near or above the 80 degree mark on the lower deserts. A weak disturbance will then move across the state Sunday night into Monday resulting in a slight chance of light showers in the higher terrain.
That’s what is going on to the north of us. Back on this side of the Fence the Sea will be seeing these strong winds into the weekend with Sunday looking like the first day with moderate winds again. The central Sea will be seeing the strongest winds during this period.
Here are the wind details for the 3-day forecast period.
The northern Sea 25-30 knot winds over the next 3 days.
The central Sea around 32 today picking up to around 37 tomorrow then back to around 35 on Thursday.
The southern Sea La Paz and the East Cape around 25 today picking up to around 30 tomorrow and back to 25 on Thursday.
The outside passage will continue to see 18-25 knot NW winds for the next 3 days.
And new to my weather a summary of the winds along the Sonoran coast from Mazatlan to Guaymas: Moderate winds in the mid teens from Mazatlan south to around Topa La Bomba today. Tomorrow 20-24 and then Thursday back to the mid teens. These charts will soon be available on the website and available for Saildoc retrieval.
Topa la Bomba south to Guaymas 25-30 for the 3-day forecast period.
The Mexican Riviera: Mazatlan: mid to high teens over the next 3 days. Puerto Vallarta to Cabo Corrienties the mid teens from the NW for the 3-day forecast period. South of Cabo Corrienties light to moderate SW winds for the 3-day forecast period.
Temperatures will continue to rise and right now it looks like the weekend we could be seeing temperatures in the high 70s and the 80s in the cape region.

73s Y’all
