Voice to Text---
.Looking down into the Sea this morning I can see that the broad plume of the Pineapple Express continues to bring mostly high whispys from around the bay of LA south to the cape this morning.
A separate weaker plume is bringing some cloudiness to the Cabo Corrienties area this morning.
The Jet stream analysis is showing the southern jet to continue to be strong with around 150 mph winds aloft. There is abundant moisture along the ITCZ/Monsoon trough and in the Eastern Pacific basin for transport toward Baja this morning. So it looks like more of what we had overhead yesterday for today.
The Gulf of Tehuantepec remains relatively quite this morning with ballpark 20 knot winds for the 3-day forecast period.
That’s what is going on in our hood. Looking now north to the west coast of America where at the top of this image the Great Northwest continues to see system after system move in from either the Gulf of Alaska or the northern Pacific bringing rain and snow to the region.
Northern California is forecast to remain dry and cold for the next couple of days. Last night the overnight low in Sacramento was 36 degrees and it should warm up there to around 70 today. It’s warmer here in Baja.
For Southern California the off shore flow and a building ridge of high pressure will result in a warming trend through the end of the week. Temperatures will be well above normal Thursday through Saturday then will likely return to near normal by early next week as low pressure approaches from the west.
Looking over to the southwest where the morning will start off cold. It was 29 at Herferd and 36 at Tucson. A slow warming trend is expected beginning today and continue through the weekend. Temperatures will rise to near normal by Thursday and be at or near the 80 degree mark throughout next weekend.
It’s nice to see someplace getting warmer. Back on this side of the Fence it looks like February wants to go our like a lion. It looks like these strong winds in the central Sea will be with up through Saturday. I know that’s long range for me but most of my charts are showing that Sunday will be the first day with winds less than 20.
Here are the details for the winds for the 3-day forecast period
The northern Sea around 20 knot today then 25 for Wednesday and Thursday.
The central Sea around 20 today then high 20s tomorrow and the mid to high 30s on Thursday.
The southern Sea: La Paz today mid teens, mid 20s tomorrow and around 30 on Thursday. The East Cape ballpark 20 today mid 20s tomorrow and around 30 on Thursday.
Of Note: One of the bloggers in La Paz said that all ports in the Sea of Cortez would be closed to boats under 500 tons today and most likely until this weekend. It’s very dangerous out there with seas between 7 and 8 feet. Good time to stay in port or on the hook.
Along the Sonoran coast from Mazatlan to around Topa la Bomba today and tomorrow mid teens and Thursday around 25. South of Topa la Bomba to Guaymas around 22 today, 25 tomorrow and then on Thursday the mid 30s.
The Mexican Riviera Mazatlan to Cabo Corrienties mid to high teens from the NW for the next 3 days. South of Cabo Corrienties moderate SW winds.
Daytime highs in the Sea today will struggle to make it to 70. over night lows continue to be in the mid 50s for most locations in the Sea.
