Voice to Text---
.Looking down into the Sea this morning I can see the southern jet, aka our Pineapple Express has widened and will by later this morning be bringing some cloudiness to the central Sea as will as far south as Manzanillo.
The jet stream analysis is showing the southern jet originating in the western tropics and passing through the ITCZ/Monsoon trough picking up abundant moisture there and transporting it toward Baja at around 150 mph this morning.
There is considerable convection building along the zone this morning so there will be no shortage of clouds to transport.
The current satellite IR image is showing a very wide plume of multi-level clouds moving across the Eastern Pacific basin toward Baja. The ragged leading edge of this plume is just starting to pass over the peninsula this morning and I can see several whispy plumes passing over the Sea already this morning. Behind it the main body of the plume is pretty much solid so it looks like by later this morning we should have pretty much sold overcast with a mix of fluffys and whispys.
Looking south to the Mexican Riviera the plume is moving through the southern crossing this morning and it looks like the Mexican Riviera from Mazatlan south to just south of Cabo Corrienties will be seeing periods of cloudiness today.
That’s what is going on in our hood. Looking now north to the west coast of America of America where system after system is moving through the Great Northwest bringing rain and snow to the region.
The system this morning could bring some light rain to extreme northern California but the rest of the state will remain dry today.
In southern California the pressure gradient between the Great Basin and the coast will keep the southland breezy until later in the week when high pressure will build over the west coast
Temperatures will warm a few degreesin the southland during the week.
Looking now over to the southwest where it wall be chilly this morning with a low system exiting to the NE. To the east of Tucson many areas will have temperatures below hard freeze levels. It will remain cold for a few more days before starting to warm up later in the week. By mid next week it the Tucson area is expected to see temperatures in the 80s. That’s a long ways from their sunrise Temperature this morning of 34 degrees. It was a chilly 29 degrees at Bab’s place in Herferd this morning.
That’s what is going on to the north of us. Back on this side of the Fence it looks like these strong winds will be with us for the entire 3-day forecast period. That and the Pineapple Express bringing cloudiness to the Sea, the el Burro Chamber of Commerce is giving the next 3 days one crummy star.
Here are the details for the winds for the next 3 days.
The northern Sea: NW winds in the 19-23 knot ranges for the 3-day forecast period.
The central Sea: NW winds in the 27-32 knot ranges for the next 3 days.
The southern Sea will see their strongest winds today with 30 knot winds from the NW. Tomorrow and Wednesday the La Paz and East Cape will see NNW winds in the 19-23 knot ranges.
The outside passage looks like ballpark 18-22 for the entire stretch for the 3-day forecast period.
The Mexican Riviera: Mazatlan 20+ knot winds today and the mid teens Tuesday and Wednesday.
Puerto Vallarta to Cabo Corrienties NNW winds in the mid teens for the next 3 days. South of Cabo Corrienties very moderate SW winds.
Full moon tonight.
