Voice to Text---
.Looking down into the Sea this morning I can see that the Pineapple Express has dried up and the bulk of clouds in the Eastern Pacific basin are just moving from west to east with the normal flow in the basin without the steerage of the southern jet.
This morning there is a plume of clouds that is passing over the cape region to around Cabo Corrienties. Within this plume there are several areas with showery conditions that are south of the cape and west of Cabo Corrienties and that area could see some sprinkles as the plume passed over.
It looks like these conditions will last for at least the next 24 hours.
The Sea this morning north of La Paz looks to be pretty much clear of any cloudiness however there is an abundance of cloudiness in the Eastern Pacific basin west of the peninsula and I’d not be surprised to see light bands of whispys passing over the Sea from time to time today.
Looking out along the ITCZ/Monsoon trough I can see there is very little in the way of any building convection this morning.
No advisories for the Gulf of Tehuantepec for the next 3 days.
So that’s what is going on in our hood. Looking now north to the west coast of America where at the top of this image I can see that the Great Northwest will see some rain and high elevation snow as Pacific moisture continues to stream into the region.
In northern California dry conditions will prevail until Friday night into Saturday when they could see some more light rain.
Southern California could see a few light showers today otherwise it will be windy and cold with areas of frost expected this morning then a warming trend will begin today with more significant warming occurring later this weekend through early next week.
Looking now over to the southwest where that weather system that brought snow to the lower deserts yesterday has shifted into New Mexico. A much weaker system from the northwest will bring a slight chance of light showers this afternoon and evening to the lower elevations, with better chances in the higher elevations. Another system dropping down from the Great Basin this weekend will bring some more rain and snow to mainly northern Arizona. Southwest Arizona will be quite gusterly over the weekend from this system. A warming trend will begin early next week.
That’s what is going on to the north of us. Back on this side of the Fence it looks like the Sea will have winds in the moderate ranges today and then tomorrow and the weekend will be gusterly to around 20 knots.
With no steerage from the Pineapple Express clouds will continue to drift over the cape area south to around Cabo Corrienties for the next 24 hours.
The Sea will probably see some whispys but otherwise good solar days.
Here are the details for the winds for the 3-day forecast period.
The northern Sea: moderate SE winds today, strong to 20 knots tomorrow and light NE on Saturday.
The central Sea: moderate NE today then strong to 20 tomorrow through the weekend.
The southern Sea: La Paz and the East Cape moderate NW today then around 20 knots tomorrow and the weekend.
The outside passage: Pt. San Quinten will be the only spot to have strong winds over the next 3 days. The rest in the moderate ranges, mid to the high teens.
The Mexican Riviera: Mazatlan to Cabo Corrienties mid to high teens from the NW. South of Cabo Corrienties light to moderate SW winds for the 3-day forecast period.
The stretch from just north of Mazatlan north to just short of Guaymas along the Sonoran coast moderate today picking up to the 18-20 knot ranges tomorrow and Saturday.
As that cold front came through yesterday most of the temperatures in the northern and central Sea only got up to the mid to high 60s yesterday afternoon. Today we should see a slight warming trend in the central Sea. The southern peninsula will climb to the mid 70s today.
