Voice to Text---
.Looking down into the Sea this morning I can see that during the night clouds transported by the Pineapple Express began passing over the Baja peninsula.
An area just south of the Hawaiian Islands extending west along the ITCZ/Monsoon trough to around 120 is producing copious amounts of heavy convection. The southern jet, aka the Pineapple Express is picking up these clouds and transporting them directly toward the Baja peninsula this morning at around 80 mph.
A lot of these clouds will loose a lot of their moisture before the plume makes landfall and right now it looks like a mixed layer of clouds are in the plume. So probably a mix of fluffys and whispys toay.
Looking south to the Mexican Riviera where clear skies are in their forecast for today.
Further south that nasty Tehuantepecker is over with very moderate winds forecast for today. Tomorrow they should see some 20-25 knot winds in the early morning hours, otherwise just moderate winds over the next 3 days.
That’s what is going on in our hood. Looking now north to the west coast of America where just off the coast of Oregon is a 1002 weather-maker low and the associated cold front.
This system will be moving down the coast today bringing light rain and snow down to around 3500 feet in northern California this morning through tomorrow morning.
In the wake of this system on Wednesday northern California will remain cold, with blustery winds and a chance of a lingering shower or two for the rest of the week.
In southern California as that cold system approaches from the NW scattered showers will develop this eveing and become more numerous overnight and tomorrow. Thunderbumpers are possible with heavy downpours, small hail, and heavy snow in the mountains. It will be windy especially in the deserts and mountains. The storm will depart to the east on Wednesday leaving southern California cool and breezy the remainder of the week. Saturday this is also a slight chance of some more rain and mountain snow.
Looking now over to the southwest where the approaching storm will give cause to wind advisories to be posted in several locations around SW Arizona especially around the Lower Colorado River Valley today extending into tomorrow morning.
The storm will move into Arizona Wednesday morning bringing rain and snow down to around 3000 feet before rising again late Wednesday. This storm will produce several inches of new snow with a bit more in the higher elevations. The storm will exit early Thursday morning and leave the southwest cold with unsettled weather for the remainder of the week. The weekend could bring some more rain and snow to the region.
That’s what is going on to the north of us. Back on this side of the fence that cold front will be swinging through Baja and the northern and central Sea during the night and early Wednesday morning cooling things down a bit. Thursday’s high temperatures will probably be in the high 60s where today the mid to high 70s.
Wind-wise mostly moderate winds are in the forecast for the 3-day forecast period.
Here are the wind detains for the next 3 days.
The northern Sea today and tomorrow mid to high 20s from the SW then Thursday light to moderate winds from the SE.
The central Sea from San Francisquito Bay to the northern crossing moderate NE today ballpark 18-20 tomorrow from the NW and Thursday very moderate winds from the NE.
For the southern Sea from Puerto Escondido south to La Paz moderate winds today and light winds tomorrow and Thursday.
The East Cape very moderate NW winds over the next 3 days.
The outside passage today ballpark 20K tomorrow with that cold front moving through, ballpark 22-26 for most locations then on Thursday back to the high teens.
The Mexican Riviera moderate winds in the mid teens from Mazatlan to Cabo Corrienties for the next 3 days.
South of Cabo Corrienties light SW for the 3-day forecast period.
The stretch between Mazatlan and Guaymas the mid teens for the next 3 days with the exception of the Guaymas area which is forecast to have 18-24 knot winds tomorrow afternoon.
So it looks like the Sea today will have moderate winds with partially overcast skies. The Riviera abundant sunshine.
