Voice to Text---
.Looking down into the Sea this morning I can see that there is a strong southern jet that has developed in the past 24 hours. Extending from the western tropics and crossing directly over central Baja.
Looking out along the ITCZ/Monsoon trough this morning I can see a large are of building convection between around 115 to 125 along 8 north is morning. It looks like there are a lot of thunderbumpers working within this region. The cloud mass is moving off the zone and being picked up by the jet and transporting a large wide plume of clouds toward Baja. The cape area is just starting to see some whispys from the leading edge. The bulk of the clouds are still several hundred miles west of Baja and with this 120 mph jet it won’t take long for the Baja peninsula to start to see first some whispys then heavier clouds moving over us. By tomorrow we should have full overcast from this Pineapple Express.
It looks like by tomorrow the Mexican Riviera from Cabo Corrienties north will also see some cloudiness however this morning it looks like clear skies all along the west coast of Mexico.
Looking further south to the Gulf of Tehuantepec where northerly winds behind a cold front moving through the SW Gulf of Mexico will squeeze through the Chivela pass and began to generate strong winds in the Gulf today and tomorrow with a short lived Tehuantepecker due on Saturday diminishing on Sunday.
That’s what is going on in our hood. Looking now north to the west coast of America where high pressure off the west coast of California and over the Great Basin has closed the storm door until around the middle of next week. Meantime it will warm slightly over the next several days with clear skies over most of the west coast.
The high in the Pacific is forecast to break down on Tuesday and allow a cold low to bring rain and snow to northern California again.
In southern California it will remain dry with a slight warming trend into Saturday. Sunday a series of lows will move through bringing cooler weather and a thick marine layer to the southern California coast. About mid week another strong low will bring a chance of rain and mountain snow to the southland.
Looking now over to the southwest where a warming trend will continue as high pressure builds over the desert southwest. By the weekend temperatures will exceed seasonal norms with highs expected to reach the mid 70s across the deserts until around mid week when lows arriving from the west will cool things off again.
That’s what is going on to the north of us. Back on this side of the Fence the good news first. The Sea should continue to see sunshine all morning. This afternoon the clouds being transported by the Pineapple Express will arrive first with high thin whispys then heavier overcast behind that.
The bad news is the strong winds will continue in the 20+ knot ranges into Saturday.
Here are the details on the winds: The northern Sea high teens today, picking up to the high 20s tomorrow then back to the high teens on Saturday.
The central Sea from San Francisquito to Puerto Escondido 23-27 knots for the next 3 days.
The southern Sea La Paz and the East Cape 19-23 today and tomorrow and then the mid teens on Saturday.
The outside passage will continue to see NW winds in the mid to the high teens over the 3-day forecast period.
From Mazatlan north along the Sonoran coast to Guaymas ballpark 20 knots NW over the next 3 days.
The Mexican Riviera from Mazatlan south to Manzanillo mid teens today. Then Puerto Vallarta south should see light winds on Friday and Saturday.
Temperature-wise the overnight lows as well as yesterdays;s highs creeped up a degree or two. We should see the same thing today in the Sea.
The Mexican Riviera will continue to see highs today in the mid 80s.
