Voice to Text---
.Looking down into the Sea this morning I can see that for the past 24 hours this Sea has had rather thick cirrus, whispys, passing over the entire peninsula.
There is a very broad 120-140 knot upper jet in place from 18N-140W that is the culprit. It is forecast to remain stationary for at least the next several days. There is a lot of mostly high whispys out in the Eastern Pacific basin and this southern jet is transporting them toward the peninsula, so it looks like these cloudy conditions will be prevalent for at least into early next week for the entire peninsula.
For those cruisers that are along the Mexican Riviera, Mazatlan may see some cloudiness but the Pineapple Express will miss the rest of the Riviera. Locally foggy conditions may exist but the satellites that I use for this region don’t pick up the fog.
Looking south now to the Gulf of Tehuantepec where very moderate condition are forecast for the 3-day forecast period.
And looking out into the Eastern Pacific basin the cloudiness out there is all high cirrus. There is no convection building along the ITCZ/Monsoon trough this morning.
That’s what is going on in our hood. Looking now north to the west coast of America where there was not one city along the west coast will see 70 degrees today. Most will be in the low 60s.
The Great Northwest will remain dry today then a series of systems will keep Washington and Oregon wet off and on for the rest of the week.
Northern California has high pressure building out in the Pacific that will bring dry conditions to the north state into next weekend. It will however remain quite cold with freezing overnight temperatures in the inland valleys.
Southern California is still under low pressure and it will remain cloudy today with a slight chance of snow showers in the mountain tonight. Chilly weather will continue tonight with patchy frost in the valleys and lower deserts.
As high pressure returns a warming trend will begin tomorrow. It will also be gusterly into Tuesday.
Looking now over to the southwest where dry conditions will occur today except for a slight chance of snow showers across the White Mountains. The next storm will bring a better chance of valley rain and mountain snow tomorrow. Cold temperatures will prevail through tomorrow followed by dry and a warming trend Tuesday into the weekend.
That’s what is going on to the north of us. Back on this side of the Fence it looks like the winds will be pleasant today, picking up a bit tomorrow then butt-ugly through the end of the week.
Here are the 3-day forecast details. The northern Sea today should see moderate SE winds. Tomorrow high teens from the north, then on Tuesday the low 20s from the NW.
The central Sea today very moderate NE winds, picking up to the high teens tomorrow and then the high 20s on Tuesday.
The southern Sea moderate NE today, less than 10 tomorrow from the NE then around 20 knots on Tuesday.
The outside passage it looks like the high teens and low 20s for the next 3 days.
The west coast of Mexico starting with Mazatlan. Today and tomorrow mid teens from the west. Tuesday around 20 from the NW.
The Puerto Vallarta area today less than 10 today, around 10 tomorrow and mid teens on Tuesday.
Cabo Corrienties south should see light SW today then light to moderate NW for Monday and Tuesday.
That’s not all the good news. It’s not going to warm up much this week. It’s very cold to the north of us. Salt lake City was 9 degrees this morning with snow flurries. Bob’s station in Herferd was 25 degrees this morning and Tucson was 35 degrees at sunrise.
None of the locations in the northern and central Sea got up to 70 yesterday. Most were in the low to mid 60s. The cape region only saw the mid 70s. Today will be much the same. The overnight low here in the cove have been averaging about 10 degrees cooler than a normal February.
