Voice to Text---
.Looking down into the Sea this morning I can see that yesterday the Pineapple Express kept the central Sea pretty much blanketed with a solid mix of fluffys and whispys until late afternoon. During the night the southern jet has disappeared and the plume has diminished in size and most of the heavy moisture laden clouds have passed over the Sea early by this morning. In this image I can still see a few fluffys but mostly whispys.
It looks like there will be periods of clearing along with mostly high whispys today. I’d think by tomorrow the moisture coming off the ITCZ/Monsoon trough will have dissipated and clear skies will be in the forecast until at lest mid week. We’ll see.
This morning the cape area is clear and all along the Mexican Riviera they can expect to see abundant sunshine today.
The gradient has relaxed over the Tehuantepec isthmus and the Tehuantepecker that has been there for 4 days will see winds drop to less than 20 today and be in those ranges for the 3-day forecast period.
Looking out along 8N this morning I can see that area out about 130 that has been producing all the clouds we have been seeing is still pumping out clouds but considerably less than the past week.
That’s what is going on in our hood. Looking now north to the west coast of America where at the top of this image I can see that a series of rather light systems will be moving through the Great Northwest most of the week bringing periodic rain and mountain snow to the Cascades.
Looking south to northern California where high pressure will stay in place today and begin to shift south this evening and tomorrow opening the storm door for extreme northern California for light rain tomorrow.
Wednesday things will start to change for all of California when a pair of low systems will merge off the British Columbia coast and then start moving down along the California coast and by Thursday bring a cold wet system to the state. Snow levels will be down to around 3000 feet in the Sierras and the southern California mountains.
Right now it looks like this storm will last into Friday with clearing into the weekend.
Looking now over to the southwest where mostly clear skies are expected through the middle of the week while temperatures remain mild, slightly above the norms for early February.
Friday that Pacific storm should arrive in the southwest bringing cooler temperatures, rain and snow to the higher elevations through the weekend.
Well, that’s what is going on to the north of us. Back on this side of the Fence that moisture plume kept most of the temperatures short of the forecast values yesterday. No 80 degree reading in the Sea. Most were in the mid to high 70s though. Today we should see some reach the 80 degree mark through.
Wind-wise yesterday most of the locations were close to the advertized speeds for the afternoon except here in Concepción Bay where the winds were light. Today’s winds on the Baja side should be mostly in the mid to high teens. A bit higher along central Sonoran coast in the Guaymas area.
Here are the details. The northern Sea North or NW in the mid teens for the next 3 days.
The central Sea 15-18 today diminishing to the low to mid teens on Tuesday and Wednesday.
The southern Sea light to moderate winds in the low teens today then 14-17 from the NW for Tuesday and Wednesday.
The outside passage for the next 3 days it looks like 18-20 from one end to the other.
The Mexican Riviera: Mazatlan today 9-12 picking up to 16-18 Tuesday and Wednesday. Puerto Vallarta south light to very moderate again for the 3-day forecast period.
