Voice to Text---
.Looking down into the Sea this morning I can see that the entire west coast of Baja and up into southern California is blanketed with clouds that have moved off the ITCZ/Monsoon trough.
The Pineapple Express has a southern jet that has swung north during the past 24 hours and is currently centered in central Baja.
The clouds are mostly high whispys however there are some multl-level clouds that look to be packing a lot of moisture. I’d however be surprise if the coast saw any rain as most these clouds dissipate before reaching land.
The plume is broken so there will be periods of sun peaking through during the haze day.
The ITCZ/Monsoon trough continues to pump out these clouds so it looks like this very broad plume of the Pineapple Express will be with us for at least the next 24 hours.
Looking now to the Mexican Riviera where it looks to be clear along the coast from around Puerto Vallarta south to Central America this morning. If the plume continues to move north Mazatlan could clear up later this morning.
Further south the gradient over the Tehuantepec isthmus won’t relax until at least Sunday so the Tehuantepecker brewing there will continue with gale force winds advisories posted until at least Sunday.
That’s what is going on in our hood. Looking now north to the west coast of America where under high pressure the west coast is under a warming trend that will last until around Tuesday when the high off the west coast breaks down and opens the storm door.
In this image I can see the next storm well out in the Pacific that will slowly advance toward the coast over the weekend. By Tuesday it is forecast to bring rain to California and snow in the higher elevation. Another system is proged to arrive later in the week.
Meantime above normal temperatures for California with cloudy conditions over southern California for the weekend.
Looking now over to the southwest where I can see clouds moving up the Baja coast and drifting over into Arizona this morning. Today it will remain warm but tomorrow the SW could see some light showers or sprinkles. The warming trend will then resume on Monday and continue until the middle of next week.
That’s what is going on to the north of us. Back on this side of the Fence the models continue to show 17-20 knot winds in the central and southern Sea in the afternoons for the 3-day forecast period.
Here are the details.
The northern Sea will continue to see moderate winds in the 13-15 knot ranges for the 3-day forecast period.
From the bay of San Francisquito south to a bit short of Puerto Escondido 17-20 for next 3 days.
Puerto Escondido south to the East Cape ballpark 20 knots over the weekend and diminishing to mid teens on Monday.
The outside passage the moderate winds coniine today picking up to the 17-20 know ranges tomorrow and Monday.
The Mexican Riviera Mazatlan to Puerto Vallarta moderate NW over the weekend south to Cabo Corrienties light SW winds.
That being said, none of the reporting stations in the central Sea reported winds reaching the forecast values yesterday. Most were in the mid teens, not the 20 knots that were forecast. This has been the pattern for the past couple of days. Hopefully this will continue today for the central Sea.
The data from the real-time reporting stations are reporting 1020 in the northern Sea 1017-1018 in the central Sea and 1015-1016 at the cape and south.
Temperature-wise all locations in the central Sea broke 70 degrees yesterday. Today the central Sea will see temperatures in the mid 70s and La Paz south in the mid to higth70s. La Paz could reach 80 degrees on Sunday.. Overnight lows crept up a degree or two also last night.
