Voice to Text---
.Looking down into the Sea this morning I can see that we have a little Pineapple Express activity working around the cape area this morning with the return of the southern jet stream. A long moisture plume originating along the ITCZ/Monsoon trough is passing over the cape region this morning and has been for the past 24 hours.
The plume is rather ragged and there have been periods of a mix of fluffys and whispys passing over all night. It looks like this will continue today with possible brief periods of sun peaking through. The plume blankets from around La Paz, the southern crossing and along the Mexican Riviera to Puerto Vallarta this morning.
North of La Paz this image is showing clear skies for the rest of the Sea.
No mention in this morning’s National Hurricane Center daily report of a Tehuantepecker due in the Gulf starting Thursday morning, probably an oversight as that high is still forecast to build over the western Gulf of Mexico on Thursday.
That’s what is going on in our hood. Looking now north to the west coast of America where the Great Northwest is getting more valley rain and lots of snow in the Cascades.
Northern California is forecast to remain dry and a bit warmer throughout the work week.
Southern California in the wake of that departing low will be cold and gusterly today. High pressure will settle in over the west coast for the remainder of the week.
Looking over to the southwest where that Pacific low is departing Arizona today leaving behind mostly clean skies, locally breezy conditions and well below normal temperatures.
They should see some snow showers in the mountains and some valley locations this morning then skies clearing from the west. Hard freezes are in their forecast for Wednesday and Thursday then a modest warming trend.
That’s what is going on to the north of us. Back on this side of the Fence strong high pressure will build across the Great Basin today. This will combine with troughing over Mexico to strengthen winds in the Sea by this evening. High pressure will continue to build tomorrow with one of the models showing winds in the Sea expected to reach near gale force by Thursday. We’ll see?
Here are the details. The northern Sea today should see moderate winds picking up to around 20 tomorrow and Thursday.
The central Sea moderate NW winds today picking up to the mid to high 20s tomorrow and a bit less on Thursday.
The southern Sea low 20s today, high 20s tomorrow and mid 20s on Thursday.
The outside passage NW wind in the mid to high teens for most locations fro the 3-day forecast period with the exception of Mag Bay and Abreojos which will see around 20 today and tomorrow.
The Mexican Riviera Mazatlan to Cabo Corrienties today mid teens. Tomorrow 16-20, and Thursday back to the mid teens.
Manzanillo south light to moderate NW winds on tap for the 3-day forecast period.
Overnight lows continue to dip in the Sea as much as 10 degrees from Sunday. Daytime highs around 10 degrees in the northern Sea and around 2 degrees cooler in the central and southern Sea. Today will be in the low 60s in the northern Sea, mid 70s in the central Sea and high 70s in the southern Sea. The Riviera will continue to see daytime highs in the mid 80s.
