Voice to Text---
.Looking down into the Sea this morning I can see that all that cloudiness we had yesterday in the Sea has passed over to the east last night and the Sea looks to be pretty much free of any cloudiness that could affect our solar charging today.
To the south I can see a large plume of clouds moving toward the Riviera. The heaviest concentration is to the south of Cabo Corrienties but it looks like when this plume reaches land Puerto Vallarta south will see some whispys while south of Cabo Corrienties the plume is carrying a lot of moisture and I’d not be surprised to see some report of sprinkles later today.
Again this morning strong winds are funneling through the Chivela pass into the Gulf of Tehuantepec becoming storm force velocity. Reports of 50 knot winds in the Gulf again this morning. Model guidance extends storm force conditions to late this morning then diminishing to Gale force winds though tomorrow and just a bit less into Tuesday and beyond.
The only other item in our hood is a long period swell moving down the Baja coast that advisories have been issued warning of large wave heights and beach erosion.
There is another item perhaps worth mentioning and that is out in the Pacific just east of Hawaii is what looks like a storm developing. It’s a bit south of where we normally see these storm develop, but this has been sort of a weird year weather wise so perhaps we may see a storm move into Baja next week. We’ll see? That would make the cows happy.
So looking now north to the west coast of America where not much has changed on the west coast or for that matter the entire western conus for the past several days.
High pressure looms large over the west bringing mostly clear skies and dry weather conditions. It looks like not much will change until mid next week when the high breaks down.
In the meantime high pressure has extended south with a 1027 high residing over central Mexico this morning and that is moderating the pressure gradient between here and the Great Basin.
Looking at the southwest this morning where high pressure will dominate their weather well into next week. That Pacific high should start to move east early next week and slowly move over the southwest by Tuesday keeping the temperatures well above seasonal norms for much of the coming week.
That’s what is going on to the north of us. Back on this side of the Fence it looks like the 3-day forecast period for the Sea of Cortez has ballpark 20k winds in the forecast for the afternoons. That being said, these 20 knot winds were in the forecast for yesterday and only one station out of the ten that I look at in the Sea reported winds over around 15 knots yesterday. All were below their forecast velocities. Hopefully that will be the case tomorrow for the big art show here at el Burro.
The winds along the Mexican Riviera should be light to moderate NW winds over the 3-day forecast period. That long period swell should reach Cabo Corrienties tomorrow and from there south around a 4 ft swell at 25 seconds for Sunday and Monday.
