Voice to Text---
.Looking down into the Sea this morning first with the 24 hour loop I can see that a weak cold front swept through northern and central Baja early last evening. Temperatures dropped from the mid 60s to the mid 50s here in the Cove and we had 1/3 inch of cold rain that lasted about 45 minutes. I also checked Guaymas and Hermosillo and they did not report any rain, so it looks like the Baja side of the central Sea was the only one to see any rain last night.
Presently the IR and water vapor imagery is showing that low moving out of Sonora and up into New Mexico.
The Sea looks to have a few isolated fluffys here and there but in general clear skies.
Looking south to the Mexican Riviera where there is a lot of cloudiness moving off the ITCZ/Monsoon trough and drifting NE toward the Mexican Riviera this morning. It looks like there will be scattered bands of clouds pass over from around Puerto Vallarta south to Zihuatanejo today. Most will be high whispys but there is also some lower dark bottomed clouds out there that will be drifting towards the coast.
Looking further south to the Gulf of Tehuantepec where there are no warnings in the 3-day forecast period however this morning there were 30 knot winds reported at the Salina Cruz station on the Northern shore of the Gulf early this morning. They are forecast to dip down below 20 later today.
Looking out west along the ITCZ/Monsoon trough I can see considerable cloudiness along the zone all the way out to around 140 this morning. All this convection is drifting north then east toward the Riviera this morning. Most will dissipate before reaching landfall but enough will reach land that we can call it partly cloudy along the Riviera today.
That’s what is going on in our hood. Looking now north to the west coast of America of America where at the top of this image I can see the storm door is open for the Great Northwest all week long with a series of frontal systems moving though the region bring cold rain and mountain snow.
Northern California will have to wait until Thursday for more rain and snow. Temperatures in the foothills will drop from around 56 today to around 38 as that Thursday cold front quickly moves through northern California.
Looking now to southern California where it will be gusterly today and warm up a bit before the next cold front arrives late Wednesday through Thursday night. It will bring significant cooling and lower snow levels into the weekend.
Looking now over to the southwest where there is a slight chance of showers in southeastern Arizona as that cold front that moved through Baja last night swings through SW New Mexico this morning. Otherwise they can expect to see dry conditions with a warming trend through Thursday. Thursday a strong cold low is forecast to bring gusterly winds, valley rain and mountain snow into Friday. They can expect to see sharply colder temperatures this weekend with the possibly of hard freezes in many locations.
That’s what is going on to the north of us. Back on this side of the Fence, in general the Sea today will see 20 knot winds this afternoon. Tomorrow Moderate NW in the mid teens, then on Thursday the winds will swing to the south and the northern and central see will see moderate southerlies on Thursday. The cape region light to moderate northerlies.
The outside passage in general 15-20 today. A bit less tomorrow the back to the 29k ranges on Thursday. Also on Thursday Pt. San Quinten north will see 30+ knot winds.
The Mazatlan area will see around 27 knot winds this afternoon and then back to the moderate ranges tomorrow. The rest of the Riviera will see moderate northerlies over the 3-day forecast period.
