Voice to Text---
.Looking down into the Sea this morning I can see that the Sea as well as the Mexican Riviera have been pretty much cloud free for the past 24 hours.
There is a rather fast moving cold front moving through southern California this morning and the tail end will swing through Baja today bringing with it some, mostly high whispys into the northern Sea.
Looking out along the ITCZ/Monsoon trough I can see a lot of convection building between 115W to around 140W. These clouds are rising off the zone and drifting NE toward Baja. Most will dissipate before reaching the coast however we should start to see some whispys in the central and southern Sea today.
The Mexican Riviera should continue to be cloud free today.
Looking further south to the Gulf of Tehuantepec where the Gale Force advisory has again been posted. Minimal gale force winds are expected to last until at least early Tuesday morning.
That’s what is going on in our hood. Looking now north to the west coast of America of America where a trough of low pressure and associated cold front just off the west coast of California will split and the northern half will be bringing wet weather to the low lands and snow to the Cascades today and the southern half will be bringing rain and snow to northern California and the Sierras.
In northern California the snow levels will start around 4000 feet and drop to around 2500 feet as the cold front pushes cooler air in.
A stronger system is forecast to arrive around Thursday.
Looking now to southern California where that front will swing through today into tomorrow accompanied by numerous rain and snow showers above 3500 feet. It will remain gusterly through tomorrow with small craft advisories posted for the southern coast.
There should be a brief warming period after this front passes then Thursday the next system is progged to arrive.
Looking now over to the southwest where a gradual increase in temperatures will continue today ahead of that approaching Pacific low system. This system will bring increasing cloudiness to the region today followed by cooler conditions and a slight chance of some rain early in the week. Warmer and dry weather will redevelop by midweek as high pressure returns to the region. Another low system will bring much cooler conditions and a better chance of rain to the southwest later in the week.
That’s what is gong on to the north of us. Back on this side of the fence it looks like the first part of next week the Sea will see strong winds again, mid week moderate winds, then late in the week the strong winds will again return.
Today the northern Sea will see moderate SE winds. Tomorrow, strong (24-26K) NW winds and then Tuesday back to moderate NW.
The central Sea moderate NW winds picking up to around 20 tomorrow and Tuesday.
The southern Sea is looking at the mid to high teens from the NW
over the 3-day forecast period.
The outside passage most areas will see ballpark 20K today and tomorrow with the exception of Pt. San Quinten where 30K is forecast for this afternoon. Tuesday the winds will be returning to the moderate ranges tip to toe.
The Mexican Riviera should see light to moderate NW winds over the 3-day forecast period with the exception of Mazatlan on Tuesday where 20 know winds are forecast.
