Voice to Text---
.Looking down into the Sea this morning I can see that the Sea of Cortez has been cloud free for the past 24 hours.
Looking south to the Mexican Riviera where they too have had lots of sunshine with no clouds in the region.
This pattern will continue today for both the Sea and the Mexican Riviera.
Looking south to the Gulf of Tehuantepec where the National Hurricane Center downgraded their forecast from yesterday taking down the Gale Advisories. Current models are showing winds in the 25-30k ranges in the Gulf over the weekend with perhaps Monday the winds reaching Gale force again.
Looking out along the ITCZ/Monsoon trough I can see there is considerable more activity along the zone this morning with most of the building convection is between 125 and 140W this morning. It is drifting NNE however without the transport of the southern jet these clouds will just meander out there and dissipate before reaching landfall.
That’s what is going on in our hood so looking now north to the west coast of America of America where at the top of this image a low and associated cold front have moved out of the Gulf of Alaska and are now just arriving in the Great Northwest. This is just the first of several systems that will be bringing rain and snow to the higher elevations for the next week in the Great Northwest.
This system should reach northern California later this afternoon bringing rain to the coast and snow down to 2500 feet over the weekend. This is not a particularly wet system so less than six inches of new snow are forecast for the higher elevations.
That low and cold front will arrive in southern California tomorrow morning and move through the region through the evening hours bringing light to moderate rain. High pressure and warmer temperatures will fill in the wake of this system through Wednesday then a more powerful and colder system is progged to arrive in southern California.
Looking now over to the southwest where they can expect to see warmer daytime temperatures and dry conditions this weekend. That Pacific storm should arrive Monday through Tuesday bringing a chance of valley rain and mountain snow to the southwest. There will be another brief warm up mid week before another storm arrives late next week.
That’s what is going on to the north of us. Back on this side of the Fence the strong NW winds will continue throughout the Sea of Cortez this weekend.
Here are the details:
The Northern Sea very moderate today and tomorrow then picking up to the mid 20s on Monday.
The Central Sea will continue to see NW winds in the low to mid 20s today. Tomorrow probably less than 15, then picking back up to the 20s on Monday.
The southern Sea will see ballpark 23k gusts today.
20 knots tomorrow and the high teens on Monday.
The outside passage will have very moderate winds today picking up to around 20 tomorrow and Monday. A bit stronger at the points.
The Mexican Riviera along with abundant sunshine will have moderate winds today diminishing to the light ranges Sunday and Monday.
