Voice to Text---
.Looking down into the Sea this morning I can see that the Pineapple Express has been bringing a long plume of moisture laden clouds to the extreme East Cape and the Mexican Riviera south to around Zihuatanejo for the past 24 hours.
This morning’s Jet Stream Analysis is showing the southern jet diminishing in size overnight, shortening, and no longer picking up the tropical moisture along the ITCZ/Monsoon trough this morning. There is still some moisture laden clouds in this shortened plume, however it looks like most of the heavy stuff has passed to the east and the Mexican Riviera will continue to see a lot a passing clouds this morning, however by later this afternoon there should not be much left of the plume. At least that’s the way it looks to me right now.
The Sea of Cortez should remain pretty much cloud free for at least the next 24 hours.
Looking now to the Gulf of Tehuantepec where it remains fairly calm in the Gulf this morning the models are showing the next wind event to start Thursday morning and persist through Saturday. The NAM model is showing the winds reaching gale force early Friday morning and peaking around 40 knots on Saturday morning.
Taking a peak at the ITCZ/Monsoon trough this morning I can see that there is very little activity along the zone this morning. No thunderbumpers at all. The only thumper in this image is a couple hundred miles west of Zihuatanejo this morning. That should dissipate before reaching landfall.
That’s what is going on in our hood. Looking now north to the west coast of America of America where strong high pressure looms over the entire western conus this morning and it looks like high pressure will remain over the Great Basin all week and into the weekend.
Looking at the top of this image the Great Northwest can expect to see mostly clear skies until late in the week when they could see a little rain into the weekend.
Northern California can expect a dry cold week with many locations seeing freeze advisories posted during the week. San Francisco will see temperatures in 30s and the inland valleys will drop to the mid 20s this week.
Southern California will also be dry and cold this week with afternoon temperatures only starting to rise later in the week. Next weekend the models are showing the possibility of a low moving into the southland bringing a chance of some rain.
Looking now over to the southwest where it will be just a bit warmer today however the deserts are still seeing overnight lows in the 20s. It should start to warm later in the week into the weekend.
There is a possibility of a few sprinkles or snow fluffys near the New Mexico state line Thursday night and Friday, otherwise the state should stay dry well into next week.
That’s what is going on to the north of us. Back on this side of the Fence it looks like these strong northerlies will be with us into the weekend.
Today and tomorrow the northern Sea will see strong NW winds in the high 20 knot ranges. Friday it looks like the low 20s.
The central Sea the low to mid 20 knot ranges for the entire 3-day forecast period.
The southern Sea 18-23 knot gusts in the afternoons for the 3-day forecast period.
Overnight low temperatures in the Sea ranged from the mid 40s to the mid 50s last night. Highs yesterday were in the mid 60s to the low 70s. However the wind chill made it feel like the mid to low 50s.
The outside passage will have very pleasant sailing weather over the 3-day forecast period with moderate NW winds in the mid teens. Good time to make a north/south passage.
The Mexican Riviera will continue to see some cloudiness diminishing later today. There was rain reported yesterday and last night along the Riviera. The most was recorded at Puerto Vallarta with 2 ½ inches of rain yesterday and .8 inches of rain since midnight.
The Riviera can expect to have light to moderate winds over the next 3 days. Mazatlan to Cabo Corrienties today NE, tomorrow SE, and Friday back to the ENE moderate winds. South of Cabo Corrienties: moderate NW today, moderate SW tomorrow and WSW on Friday. Temperatures in the mid 80s all along the Riviera this afternoon.
