Voice to Text---
.Looking down into the Sea this morning I can see that the southern jet, aka the Pineapple Express is still picking up a lot of tropical moisture out of the ITCZ/Monsoon trough and transporting it toward the southern end of the Baja peninsula and the northern Mexican Riviera again this morning.
I had expected to see at least a few reports of rain showers but non popped up this morning for the past 24 hours.
This morning the plume extends from around Las Mochas south to Manzanillo with Zihuatanejo being on the very southern edge. There is some scattered thunderbumper activity within this plume as is approaches the coast and I’d expect to see reports of scattered showers today from the East Cape south.
From the East Cape north in general the skies are fairly clear with only isolated patches of fluffys hear and there.
There is a band of whispys that have been moving down the southern California coast overnight and have now turned east and are drifting over the far northern Sea. It looks like the far southern edge of this plume could reach Santa Rosalia later this morning before passing over to the east and Sonora this afternoon.
Further south the Tehuantepec is quiet this morning and the models are showing the next wind event will start Thursday into Saturday.
That’s what is going on in our hood. Looking now north to the west coast of America of America where the entire west coast is drying out after about a week of wet systems passing through.
With high pressure building over the western conus this morning the west coast will remain cold and dry today into the weekend with many locations having frost for freeze advisories out this morning. As the week wears on the temperatures will rise slowly, only a few degrees a day, reaching seasonal norms by the weekend.
Looking now over to the southwest where the few locations of light valley rain and mountain snow ended last night and they too will be drying out into the weekend with a gradual warming trend.
So after a week of storms along the west coast the coast as well as the interior are drying out this morning and it looks like the first week of 2013 will be dry to the north of us.
Back on this side of the Fence it looks like the entire Sea will be seeing strong NW winds over the 3-day forecast period.
The northern Sea today low 20s today, High 20s tomorrow and back to the low 20s again on Thursday.
The central Sea will be in the mid to high 20s for the 3-day forecast period.
The southern Sea 19-23 NW winds over the 3-day forecast period.
For the outside passage Cedros and inside of Turtle Bay will see 18-20 today but the rest of the 3-day forecast period the entire passage will be in the mid teens.
The Mexican Riviera today Mazatlan and Manzanillo will see 14-17 knot winds today then the next 3 days light northerlies. The rest of the Riviera light mostly northerlies over the 3-day forecast period.
