Voice to Text---
.Looking down into the Sea this morning in the 24 hour loop I can see that yesterday the entire Sea was blanketed with mostly high whispys from the Pineapple Express.
Looking out into the Eastern Pacific basin this morning it looks to me that the plume is weakening and the Jet Stream Analysis is showing a much weaker jet this morning. Could it be that the central sea will see sun today? Perhaps? Most likely there will be patches of sun peaking though the veil of high whispys. It the weakening trend continues it looks like Santa will have clear skies over Baja tonight. We’ll see?
Looking south to the Mexican Riviera where I can see a few clouds passing over the Puerto Vallarta area, but that is it for the entire southern west coast of Mexico.
Further south that strong Tehuantepecker is over this morning but seas to 9 feet are still in the Gulf and downstream. There will not really be a crossing window as another cold front is forecast to move through the Chivela pass and bring minimal gale force winds on Wednesday. This event will be short lived perhaps only until late Thursday.
Well that’s what is gong on in our hood so looking now north to the west coast of America of America where the storm door is open for the west coast.
At the top of this image the Great Northwest will be having a white Christmas.
Northern California had a whopper move through yesterday filling the streams to overflowing. Rain is forecast to continue today, but much lighter and snow will continue to fall in the higher elevations of the Sierras.
Southern California will also be getting wet today with a short drying out period tomorrow, Christmas day. The a colder system will bring another round of rain and winds Wednesday and Thursday with snow levels falling to around 4000 feet. More rain is forecast for the weekend.
Looking now over to the southwest where a storm system will cross northern Arizona today bringing a chance of light rain and snow mostly to the north of Tucson. Not much chance of seeing any rain on the deserts today through Christmas day. Wednesday another system will pass to the north again with again not much of a chance of rain to southwest Arizona, just some high elevation light snow.
That’s what is gong on to the north of us. Back on this side of the Fence it looks like the next two days the central and southern Sea will continue to see strong NW winds.
Today in the northern Sea will continue to see moderate winds and they should continue to be in the moderate ranges Christmas day and Wednesday
The central Sea today 17-20 picking up tomorrow to the low 20s and then on Wednesday moderate NW in the mid teens.
The southern Sea today and tomorrow the strong NW winds will continue in the 20 knot ranges. Wednesday moderate winds in the mid teens will return to the East Cape
The outside passage today NW winds in the mid 20s, a bit higher at the points. Christmas day mid teens and Wednesday the low 20s.
The Mexican Riviera only Mazatlan will see NW winds in the mid teens. The rest of the Riviera Light winds less than 10 knots.
That is my forecast according to the models I use. However yesterday all of the reporting locations reported much less wind than the forecast.
With virtually no gradient in the Sea today my gut feeling is that the high winds I’m forecasting for the northern crossing today will not be as high as today’s models are showing. We’ll see?
Temperatures today in the central Sea will be in the high 60s to the low 70s. The southern Sea the mid 70s and the Mexican Riviera the mid 80s.
