Voice to Text---
.Looking down into the Sea this morning I can see that the Pineapple Express is still with us. The southern jet is still strong and is transporting a long, wide plume of clouds off the ITCZ/Monsoon trough directly toward Baja and then the plume crosses the Sea, Mexico, the Gulf of Mexico and this morning the eastern end of the plume curls around Florida.
So it looks like the skies will continue to be overcast with mostly high whispys with an occasional band of thicker fluffys passing over. The plume blankets the Sea from the very far northern end of the Sea including SW Arizona this morning, south to just south of the southern crossing.
South of Puerto Vallarta the skies are clear.
Further south at the Gulf of Tehuantepec a major Tehuantepecker is winding down with only gale force winds in the Gulf today. Later today the winds should diminish to 20 knots or less. Sea will remain around 16 feet during the day today and extend well out into the Eastern Pacific basin to around 110W.
Next Wednesday the next wind event is forecast to have only gale force winds.
That’s what is going on in our hood. Looking now north to the west coast of America of America where that low that descended from the Gulf of Alaska last Thursday is still very slowly moving down the west coast. This morning it is around 400 miles west of San Francisco and it continues to send impulse after impulse of wet and cold weather into the Great Northwest and northern California.
More snow is forecast for the Cascades today and heavy snow is forecast for the Sierras. Rain and high winds will accompany this latest impulse into northern California, Oregon and western Washington.
High winds advisories are forecast for the bay area, the California delta and central California this morning. Fifty mph winds are forecast for the San Francisco area this morning into the afternoon and up to 60 mph winds are possible in the foothills east of Sacramento today.
The front will reach southern California later today bringing mostly light rain and a light dusting of snow to the region today and tomorrow. Christmas Day the southland is forecast to be dry then another series of storms are progged to arrive later in the week.
Looking now over to the southwest where in this image I can see the far northern plume of the Pineapple Express passing over Tucson this morning.
Low pressure will approach the region today bringing more clouds to the area this afternoon and tonight along with a chance of some valley rain and higher elevation snow through Christmas Day. High pressure will once again briefly return by Wednesday’ and then another low system is progged to move into the region on Thursday and Friday bringing a better chance of rain and snow.
That’s what is going on to the north of us. Back on this side of the fence the entire Baja peninsula and the Sea of Cortez will have the Pineapple Express passing over today bring a mix of mostly high whispys along with a few bands of heavier fluffys.
Wind-wise the northern Sea will continue to see moderate NW winds over the 3-day forecast period.
The central Sea ballpark 20-24 knots in the afternoons for the next 3 days.
The southern Sea, La Paz and the East Cape 20+ knot winds for the next 3 days.
The Mexican Riviera in general will see light winds over the 3-day forecast period with the exception of Mazatlan which will see NW winds in the mid to high teens today and tomorrow then mid teens on Christmas day.
The outside passage will see 20K winds today picking up a bit tomorrow then Christmas day back to the mid teens. The strongest winds today and tomorrow will be at Pt. San Quinten and be in the mid to high 20s.
