Voice to Text---
.Looking down into the Sea this morning I can see that today we will have the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly.
The good is that the Sea will not have much wind today. The bad is the Pineapple Express is still with us. The Ugly is within the plume of the Pineapple Express are some very dark bottomed clouds.
The 90 mph winds in the southern jet, aka the Pineapple Express are transporting a lot of moisture off the ITCZ/Monsoon trough this morning and taking dead aim on the central Sea.
The plume covers most of the Baja peninsula this morning with the heaviest concentration of moisture laden clouds in the central Sea with mostly heavy fluffys. High whispys extend to the northern Sea and the cape area. I’d not be surprised to see some reports of sprinkles in the central Sea today.
Looking now south to the Mexican Riviera where Mazatlan and Puerto Vallarta are on the southern edge of the plume and can expect to see mostly whispys pass over from time to time today.
South of Cabo Corrienties the skies look like they will be clear all day.
Further south at the Gulf of Tehuantepec the first storm force wind event of the Sea is taking place. 50 mph winds are extending from the Gulf of Tehuantepec down stream well out into the Eastern Pacific basin to around 110W with seas exceeding 22 feet.
The pressure gradient is forecast to relax significantly late in the weekend into early next week with winds diminishing below gale force by early Sunday morning then to 20 knots of less by early Monday morning.
Tiz the Tehuantepecker season and another gale force wind event is in the forecast beginning next Wednesday evening.
That’s what is going on in our hood so looking not north to the west coast of America of America where off the Oregon coast that big honk’n low is still spiraling out there. It’s pushing a cold front into the Great Northwest this morning and they will continue to see heavy rain and mountain snow throughout the weekend. The Great Northwest will have a white Christmas.
This system will continue to send impulses of rain and snow into northern California well into next week including Christmas day.
For the LA basin in southern California periods of rain are in the forecast for all of next week with perhaps Christmas day being dry.
Extreme southern California, in the San Diego region, should be dry today however Sunday into Monday they have a good chance of seeing rain along the coast and snow in the mountains. Christmas day right now looks like it will be dry with another system proged to arrive on Wednesday into Thursday.
Now, looking over to the southwest where they could see a few sprinkles this morning but otherwise dry conditions will prevail thorough tomorrow then they should see lower elevation rain and mountain snow through Christmas day then another system should arrive late in the week.
That’s what is going on to the north of us. Back on this side of the Fence the northern and central Sea will see light to moderate winds today. The East Cape will continue to see strong winds.
The 3-day forecast period forecast for the northern Sea: light to moderate winds today. Moderate winds tomorrow on the Baja side and strong winds along the Sonoran coast tomorrow and then the entire northern Sea moderate winds on Monday.
The central Sea light to moderate winds today, strong winds tomorrow especially in the northern crossing region and then moderate winds again on Monday.
For the southern Sea, the La Paz area moderate winds today and East Cape will continue to see strong NW winds all day. Tomorrow and Monday the entire East Cape will see strong NW winds.
The Mexican Riviera south to Cabo Corrienties will see moderate NW winds over the 3-day forecast period and south of Cabo Corrienties light to moderate SW winds for the 3-day forecast period.
The outside passage moderate NW winds continue today picking up to around 20 tomorrow and mid to high 20s on Monday.
Today’s afternoon high Temperatures in the Sea will be in the high 60s to the low 70s. Most of the Riviera will see afternoon temperatures in the mid 80s.
