Voice to Text---
.Looking down into the Sea this morning I can see we will again have a double whammy today.
From the north there is that cold front I mentioned earlier off the coast from San Diego. That is bringing rain to San Diego this morning and the tail end of this front will swing through northern and central Baja later this morning bringing with it the possibility of some light showers.
To the south we have the Pineapple Express bringing a lot of wet tropical moisture off the ITCZ/Monsoon trough to Baja and the Mexican Riviera as well this morning.
This current image is showing a very broad band of dark bottomed clouds spread out from just north of Santa Rosalia and Guaymas to around Manzanillo along the Riviera to the south.
To the north I can see the first band of clouds from that Pacific cold front starting to encroach into northern Baja and the northern Sea. Right now it looks like the only place that is not overcast in around the Bay of La area and they too will soon have cloud cover.
So it looks like another day of overcast skies with the chances of some showers for both Baja and the Mexican Riviera.
Looking south to the Gulf of Tehuantepec where the winds have diminished to the 20-25 knot ranges and are expected to further weaken today becoming light by this evening.
Looking ahead it looks like the next wind event for the Gulf will be late next week, so for the first time in several weeks it looks like there will be a crossing opportunity. Even with these relativity mild winds in the forecast, experienced cruisers in this region will tell you to keep one foot on shore rather than shoot straight across.
Well, that’s what is gong on in our hood so looking now north to the west coast of America of America where the storm door is open for the west coast. This image is showing the storms lined up in the north Pacific. One system had arrived on shore overnight in the Great Northwest and will bring rain to the low lands, gusterly strong winds along the coast and more snow to the cascades and later today rain and snow to northern California.
Southern California has a nice low that has moving ashore this morning that is bringing rain, mountain snow and gusterly winds to San Diego area this morning.
Another weaker system will move ashore this evening and Sunday with just enough moisture to bring a chance of rain to the southland. Fair weather follows on Monday before another storm arrives on Tuesday. High pressure should start to return on Wednesday and Thursday for dry and warmer weather for southern California.
Looking now over to the southwest where a second storm will continue through the area today bringing additional desert rain and mountain snow. Clearing is expected tonight with dry weather developing through next Tuesday when another storm will impact the region Tuesday night into Wednesday leading to another chance of desert rain and mountain snow.
That’s what is going on to the north of us. Back on this side of the fence for most of us it will NOT be a good solar day with overcast skies blanketing most of the region.
Wind-wise the Gonzaga Bay and La Bay area should see 20+ knot SW winds today then moderate NW Sunday and Monday.
San Franciscito bay south to Puerto Escondido should see light to moderate southerlies today. The same region is forecast to have strong NW winds on Sunday and Monday to around 20 knots.
The La Paz area of the southern Sea today should see moderate NW winds today, then strong NW winds on Sunday and Monday around 20 knots.
The East Cape is forecast to have strong NW winds over the 3-day forecast period with gusts up to 25 knots.
The Mexican Riviera: Mazatlan should see brisk NW winds today, Strong NW winds tomorrow and Mondy Moderate NW winds
The Puerto Vallarta area moderate NW winds over the 3-day forecast period .
Cabo Corrienties will see strong NW winds today diminishing a bit tomorrow and a bit more to around 16 knots on Monday.
South of Cabo Corrienties mostly light to moderate southerlies over the 3-day forecast period.
Temperatures will continue to dip a bit so it looks like this weekend will be cool as well as windy for the Sea of Cortez. The Mexican Riviera temperatures will dip a bit with all this overcast, but the daytime highs will be in the mid 80s though.
