Voice to Text---
.Looking down into the Sea this morning it looks like the Sea of Cortez is getting a double whammy. Remnant clouds from the Pacific storm are moving down from the north, and the Pineapple Express is sending a large wet plume off the ITCZ/Monsoon trough to central Baja and south to around Manzanillo this morning.
Currently there is fairly heavy cloud cover from the northern crossing south. There is a lot of moisture in these clouds so I’d expect to see periods of light rain from time to time in the Sea of Cortez today as these hot cells pass through to the east.
The Mexican Riviera will continue to see these wet clouds pass over and they too can expect to see periods of light rain or showers today.
Further south at the Tehuantepec north winds will continue in the 20-30 knot ranges until late this morning then diminishes today. Best guess is the next Tehuantepecker will begin late Tuesday night peaking around 25 knots.
That’s what is going on in our hood, so looking now north to the west coast of America of America where the Great Northwest will continue to see rain in the valleys and snow in the mountains today and into the weekend.
Northern California is getting wet this morning and it looks like they will have an active weather pattern through the weekend and into next week. The next system moving in from the northwest will likely spread more rain into northern California from early Saturday into Saturday evening.
Southern California saw that cold front move through last night and this morning there will be still be some lingering showers. This system will be followed by a series of weaker systems tonight into Saturday and again Sunday into Sunday night. They can expect to see the cooler weather continue along with gusterly winds. Small craft advisories remain in force for today. Monday they could see a brief warm-up but Tuesday another system will bring another round of rain to the southland.
Looking now over to the southwest where that Pacific storm will be moving east across the southwest today bringing widespread rain with clearing expected later this afternoon. The clearing will be short lived as another system is proged to move into the region late tonight and early Saturday. Snow levels will dip to around 5000 feet tonight and 4500 feet tomorrow morning.
A warming and drying trend will develop Sunday and continue into early next week.
That’s what is going on to the north of us. Back on this side of the Fence there will not be many places that see any sun, either in the Sea or the Mexican Riviera today. Many locations will see drizzle or light rain periodically.
Wind-wise the far northern Sea will see strong southerlies today to around 30 knots. Tomorrow and Sunday the winds will diminish to the mid teens.
The central Sea today: from San Franciscito bay to Puerto Escondido light to moderate ESE winds. About the same thing tomorrow and picking up to around 20 knots on Monday.
The southern Sea, La Paz and the East Cape moderate N winds today and picking up to around 20 over the weekend from the NNW.
The Mexican Riviera: Mazatlan today light SE tomorrow and Sunday strong NW.
The Puerto Vallarta area moderate NE today and moderate NW tomorrow and Sunday.
Cabo Corrienties: strong NW for the 3-day forecast period.
Manzanillo south moderate SW winds for the 3-day forecast period.
The outside passage moderate NW today and tomorrow and a bit more than 20 on Sunday.
Temperatures for the Sea will be in the mid 70s today and mid to low 80s for the Mexican Riviera.
73s Y’all
