Voice to Text---
.Looking down into the Sea this morning I can see that the Sea of Cortez has been pretty much cloud free for the past 24 hours.
To the south along the Mexican Riviera that moisture plume is still there and this broken and scattered band will continue to send periods of broken clouds over the Riviera today. At 5 O’clock this morning this image is showing a thin band of thin clouds crossing over the Puerto Vallarta and Cabo Corrienties area and to the south pretty much clear. However just off the coast the band is rather solid and drifting toward the mainland so I’d expect that later this morning and this afternoon the area will be at least partially overcast. We’ll see?
Looking south to the Gulf of Tehuantepec where a stalled front over the Gulf of Mexico is giving cause to a tight pressure gradient in the isthmus and bringing gale force winds by this afternoon through tomorrow night. The gradient will then weaken, however 20-25 knot winds will continue to flow through the Gulf into Friday.
That’s what is going on in our hood so looking now north to the west coast of America of America where a cold front is moving down the coast of California today bringing rain to the lowlands and snow to around 3000 feet today.
From this image it looks like northern Baja will see some rain tomorrow from this system and the rain could extend as far south as central Baja. My evil twin brother next door is having a new roof put on, so he’s not to excitied about any chance of rain here. I should have a better idea by tomorrow morning.
This is just one of a series of storms that will move inland over the west coast this week bringing much colder weather as well as periods of rain and mountain snow.
Looking over to the southwest where it is cold and getting colder. Over the weekend the Tucson area will see overnight lows in the mid 30s and daytime highs in the high 50s and low 60s.
Tomorrow they can expect to see valley rain and mountain snow into Friday along with gusterly winds. They can expect some lingering showers into the weekend.
That’s what is going on to the north of us. Back on this side of the fence it looks like moderate southerlies for the Sea today, strong southerlies tomorrow and then back to the moderate southerlies on Friday.
The northern Sea will see moderate to strong southerlies for the 3-day forecast period with the strongest winds tomorrow to be in the mid 20s and less on Friday.
The central Sea today: mostly light southerlies today picking up to around 20 tomorrow and back to the mid teens on Friday
The southern Sea today: light NE today. Moderate southerlies tomorrow and back to the moderate NE on Friday.
The outside passage will continue to see moderate NW winds today. That cold front passing through northern Baja and southern California tomorrow will give cause to strong SW winds along the outside tomorrow and then mostly moderate NW on Friday.
The Mexican Riviera today and tomorrow: Mazatlan to Cabo Corrienties mostly light northerlies and Friday picking up to around 15 from the north. Cabo Corrienties south light southerlies today and then moderate southerlies tomorrow and Friday.
For Mazatlan I have been forecasting moderate northerlies for the past three days and yesterday and the day before they have had winds around 20. Hopefully I’ve got it right today. We’ll see?
Temperatures in the Sea today will be in the mid 70s and the Riviera mid to high 80s.
