Voice to Text---
.Looking down into the Sea this morning I can see that yesterday we had a mix of sunshine and whispys most of the day.
The moisture plume that has been with us for a couple of days now, is still transporting subtropical moisture off the ITCZ/Monsoon trough through that high off the southern Baja coast this morning and sending if over the Baja peninsula.
The plume has narrowed and weakened considerably overnight and we will see more sunshine and less whispys today than yesterday.
Further south the Mexican Riviera has been pretty much cloud free for the past 24 hours and it looks like another cloud free day again today.
Further south at the Gulf Tehuantepec. The reporting station at Salina Cruz on the northern shore of the Gulf was reporting 20-30 knot winds this morning and they are forecast to continue throughout the weekend. Seas are expected to remain in the 8-9 foot ranges though.
That’s what is going on in our hood so looking now north to the west coast of America where the entire west coast is getting wet again this morning.
The storm door is open and one front after another is moving in from this Pacific. This morning another cold front is bringing more rain to northern and central California. Snow levels remand high at around 7000 feet today.
There is certainly plenty of moisture available to generate significant rain in California. There is a narrow plume of enhanced moisture transport (sometimes referred to as an atmospheric river) extending from just north of Hawaii to north central California this morning.
As much as California needs the water. It’s one of those things “Careful what you ask for.” The ground is becoming saturated and many streams and rivers are approaching flood stages and mountain reservoirs are on the verge of over flowing.. The California delta was getting 1/3 inch of rain an hour yesterday afternoon.
Southern California will be having unsettled weather though Sunday with scattered showers, gusterly winds and high surf along the coast.
Northern California will continue to see rain throughout the weekend and scattered showers into the firest part of next week. The storm coming though on Sunday will be much colder and will produce more snow in the mountains.
Looking now over to the south west where the storm track will pass well to the north leaving the southwest dry with unseasonably warm temperatures through the weekend. As these systems do pass to the north the southwest will see some cloudiness but no rain.
Well, that is what is going on to the north of us. Back on this side of the Fence we are moving into day two of strong winds in the central and southern seal.
The Sonoran coast from Bahia Keno Nuevo to a little south of Guaymas ballpark 20K winds today.
The northern Sea will continue to see moderate northerlies over the 3-day forecast period.
The central see from San Franciscito bay south to Puerto Escondido will see 20+ knot winds today, diminishing a bit tomorrow and by Sunday to be in the moderate ranges.
The southern Sea: just a tad less than 20 today diminishing to the moderate ranges tomorrow and Sunday.
The Riviera will continue to see light winds with a moderate swell over the 3-day forecast period with temperatures in the mid 80s
Over night lows in the central Sea will be in the low 60s and daytime highs in the mid 70s today. The southern Sea today’s highs will be in low to mid 80s.
