Voice to Text---
.Looking down into the Sea this morning I can see that we have had pretty much another 24 hours of cloudless skies in the Sea of Cortez.
The Mexican Riviera area around Puerto Vallarta to Cabo Corrienties has seen some high whispys passing over, and it looks like they will continue today.
There is a fairly heavy moisture plume moving off the ITCZ/Monsoon trough moving directly toward Cabo Corrienties, spread out from around Puerto Vallarta to Manzanillo this morning. So a scattered mix of high whispys are on tap for this region today.
Looking south to the Tehuantepec where the pressure gradient is maintaining 20-30 knot northerly winds downstream of the Gulf, out in the Pacific. Winds increasing to 30-40 knots will surge through the Chivela Pass this evening. This wind event should pass by Sunday with winds diminishing below gale force. Again the reprieve will be short lived as another Tehuantepecker is due to begin next Tuesday evening.
That’s what is going on in our hood so looking now north to the west coast of America the storm door is open for the Great Northwest. I can see a big honk’n low swirling in the Gulf of Alaska this morning. It is spread out from the Aleutian Islands to the British Columbia coast. It’s not forecast to arrive until next week but it is currently pushing a weaker low into the Great Northwest bringing more rain and mountain snow. Flood advisories have been issued in several locations in Washington and Oregon this morning.
The rest of west coast will see rather benign weather under building high pressure. Lots of sunshine is on tap for northern California with a warming trend into mid next week.
Southern California will be windy due to the pressure gradient between the high over the Nevada plateau and the southern California coast. I can also see a very thick fog bank hugging the coast from around Turtle Bay north into southern California this morning.
Both San Diego and La have issued thick fog advisories for this morning.
Looking now over to the southwest where the high pressure will bring warm and dry conditions into next week. Above normal temperatures will continue today through the weekend with some slight cooling early next week as a cold front passed through the Great Basin.
That’s what is gong on to the north of us. Back on this side of the Fence it looks like the winds in the Sea will be gusting to ballpark 20 knots today.
The northern Sea ballpark 20 knots today diminishing to the mid teens tomorrow and light winds on Sunday.
The central Sea from San Franciscito Bay to Concepción Bay 20 knot winds today diminishing to the mid teens on Saturday and light winds on Sunday.
The southern Sea from Puerto Escondido south to the East Cape today moderate winds today and tomorrow and light winds on Sunday.
Along the Mexican Riviera Mazatlan will see moderate winds today then Mazatlan and the rest of the Riviera south to Acapulco light winds for the 3-day forecast period mostly from the NW to Cabo Corrienties and SW to the south of that.
Temperatures in the Sea will be seasonally cool over night with lows in the 60s and daytime highs in the mid to high 70s and low 80s.
Tis no wonder the winter migration from the summer hunting grounds to the warmer pastures of Mexican Riviera are now in full swing, daytime highs will be in the mid to high 80s and the overnight lows in the mid 70s.
