Voice to Text---
.Looking down into the Sea this morning I can see that the jet that was bringing subtropical moisture from along the ITCZ/Monsoon trough is now gone and the skies pretty much cleared over the Baja peninsula over night.
There is just the West/East flow in the basin that might bring a few whispys over the peninsula today.
Looking south I can see a narrow moisture plume moving up from the ITCZ/Monsoon trough toward Puerto Vallarta and Cabo Corrienties this morning. There are some hot spots in this plume that could cause some sprinkles this morning.
The rest of the Mexican Riviera is pretty much cloud free.
Looking further south to the Gulf of Tehuantepec we still have a Tehuantepecker brewing down there. North winds continue to blow through the Chivelas pass into the Gulf. There is sufficient pressure gradient between the northern and southern ends of the isthmus to keep the gale force warnings up until Friday. It looks like the warning will only be down a short time as another cold front is expected to arrive in the southern Gulf of Mexico this weekend.
That’s what is going on in our hood. Looking now north to the west coast of America where the Great Northwest is being saturated by heavy rains. Flood advisories have been issued for several rivers in Oregon and Washington. The Cascades have already received a couple of feet of new snow. Strong winds to 65 mph are again forecast for the higher peaks in the Cascades.
Northern California will see the rain diminish today and will see a dry and sunny Thanksgiving Day.
The LA Basin will also see rain diminishing today with sunshine on tap for tomorrow.
Extreme Southern California will continue to see morning fog along the coast and warm afternoons into the weekend.
Looking now over to the southwest where the system passing though to the north will bring some cloudy skies, and perhaps a few light showers to the Tucson area today then clearing tonight. Dry and warm temperatures are forecast for thanksgiving through the weekend.
That’s what is happening to the north of us. Back on this side of the Fence folks will be scampering for warmer clothes this morning as the overnight lows dipped from the low to mid 70s to the mid 60s last night pretty much across the board in the Sea of Cortez.
Wind-wise the entire Sea should see moderate winds today. Thanksgiving the winds will be just a tad higher and then Friday the entire Sea will again see strong northwesterlies.
Temperatures today will be in the mid 70s to the low 80s.
