Voice to Text---
.Looking down into the Sea this morning the 24 hour loop is showing the Sea, Sonora and the Baja peninsula to have been free of any clouds for the past 24 hours.
Looking over along the west coast of Mexico along the Mexican Riviera there has been some showers along the coast, but it does not look like any thumpers of any size.
The ITCZ/Monsoon trough is fairly active this morning with lots of squalls along 10N.
Looking now in our Tropical Kitchen: That area of low pressure that has been designated 93E, was embedded in the ITCZ/Monsoon trough yesterday morning. In the past 24 hours it has moved north, and is now centered about 375 miles south of Manzanillo . This will be our next tropical storm. It is in a very favorable environmental region for tropical development, and I’d expect to see it upgraded to a depression perhaps later today, and a named storm by tomorrow. It may not happen that fast, but it will happen this weekend.
The early forecast models are showing most of the tracks following the past tropical storms along the outside of the Baja peninsual. One wild hair is showing the storm track hooking back around and crossing the Baja peninsula around Santa Rosalia. That’s only one track out of six. Tomorrow we should be seeing more agreement in the models.
Of note, there is a Tropical Wave just SW of Cuba that is headed our way. It should arrive perhaps Monday.
That’s what’s going on in our hood so looking now north to the west coast of America where today and tomorrow will be just like the past two weeks along the west coast. It should start to cool off Sunday as a low moved in from the Pacific.
Just slim chances of rain are in the forecast for northern California this weekend.
Southern California will also experience some cooling this weekend and a deepening of the marine layer along the coast.
Looking now over to the southwest where not much is going to chance until Sunday.
The southwest will remain hot today. Yuma will see 107, Tucson 100 today. This marks the 70th 100 degree day of 2012 for Tucson.
There is some moisture in the air so some high elevation showers are possible today. Things will start to cool of Sunday with the high finally weakening.
That’s what is going on to the north of us. Back on this side of the Fence the Sonoran coast will continue to see strong northerlies today and tomorrow.
The Baja side of the northern Sea moderate northerlies for the 3-day forecast period.
The central Sea: moderate northerlies today and tomorrow, and then the winds will swing to the south again, with the weakening of high pressure in the Great Basin.
The southern Sea light to moderate northerlies over the 3-day forecast period along the coast, but in the center and the Sonoran side should see moderate southerlies.
So it looks like another Chamber of Commerce weekend in store for the Sea of Cortez.
Temperatures will will be in the mid to high 90s.
