Voice to Text---
.Looking down into the Sea this morning I can see that the Sea has been pretty much clear of any thunderbumpers in the past 24 hours. Along the eastern shore of the peninsula mostly back in the mountains yesterday afternoon there was numerous cells that looked like they brought showers to the area. Here in Concepción Bay the late afternoon brought lots of thunder and lightning and a few scattered showers. A trace of rain was recorded here at my station.
In Sonora there were a few thunderbumper pop up however the general flow of winds was to the east all day and those storms moved further inland rather than the Sea.
Looking to the cape area it looks like there was some thunderbumper activity around the cape yesterday afternoon. RAN totals.
The southern crossing has been pretty much cloud free for the past 24 hours.
Looking now along the Mexican Riviera where it is cloudy from Puerto Vallarta south to Central America with numerous thumpers working along the coast this morning.
Now looking in our Tropical Kitchen where that wanna-be is now a Gonna-Be. It has continued to work its way up the coast at around 10mph and in now a couple of hundred miles SW of Manzanillo. This will be the next tropical storm.
So far it has remained its northward path and not veered to the WNW. This morning’s 2am forecast tracks are still scattered and most continue to show this system moving west of the cape. One of the tracks showed the storm tracking along the outside of the peninsula to around Turtle Bay then doing a Crazy Ivan and heading back toward Mag Bay. Probably by tomorrow the models will have more of a consensus.
I’d imagine that sometime today this will be upgraded to a depression then quickly a named storm.
OK, that’s what is going on in our hood so looking now north to the west coast of America where today will be just about like yesterday all along the coast. High pressure is forecast to start building over the western conus tomorrow bringing a warming trend to most locations.
Southern California will see some morning drizzle that should clear by mid morning. With the low departing late yesterday temperatures are expected to warm 5-10 degrees each day through Friday and continue warmer than normal over the weekend.
Looking now over to the southwest where the unusually moist weather conditions and thunderbumper chances of the past week will be winding down by the end of the week. Meantime there is still ample moisture for scattered showers and thunderbumper today.
That’s what’s going on to the north of us. Back on this side of the Fence it looks like the strongest winds will be along the Sonoran coast this afternoon. Ballpark around 20 knots.
The northern and central Sea should see mostly moderate NW wind this afternoon. Puerto Escondido south moderate NE winds.
The only iffy spot in the 3-day forecast period is around the cape and west cape on Friday as our Gonna-Be is in the vicinity.
Expect to see thunderbumpers build in the late afternoons along the east side of the peninsula again today.
