Voice to Text---
.Looking down into the Sea this morning I can see that moisture has continued to pour across the Sea from Sonora for the past 24 hours. Here in the cove there was hardly a time during the day yesterday that I could not hear thunder nearby. We had just a trace of rain last night from a cell that came through.
The 24 hour loop is showing numerous cells popping up all over the Baja peninsula. Most looked to be short lived.
Over in Sonora it looks there were thunderbumpers working all afternoon and evening. They have tapered off since midnight.
This mornings water vapor imagery is continuing to show heavy moisture over Sonora and Chihuahua with the general flow to the west toward Baja.
The IR image is showing the only thunderbumpers working right now are along the Fence on the Arizona/New Mexico border.
With all the moisture in the air over in Sonora I’d suspect that they will continue to have afternoon thunderbumpers over the entire state.
So the question is: Will the conditions we had yesterday persist today? I’m thinking probably less thumpers but the overcast will probably continue during the day. The IR image is showing some spots of clear sky in the Sea this morning so perhaps some patches of sun along with the overcast. Looking at the IR just a few minutes ago it does look like there will be some clearing. That being said I also noted a large cell developing just west of Guaymas heading towards Santa Rosalia.
And to tell you the truth. I could be wrong. All that moisture could flow more to the NNW into Arizona and we would have more clear skies. I got an email from EZI in Mulegé who has the benefit of TV and he said the commercial weather stations are saying the worst is over. We’ll see?
Looking now south to the Mexican Riviera where at 4am there was a big thumper directly over Mazatlan encroaching into the southern crossing. By 7am it had started to dissipate.
Still nothing cooking in our Tropical Kitchen this morning. The forecaster from the National Hurricane Center in his report this morning said there was abundant tropical moisture in the basin. Sea surface temperatures remain fairly warm and only a lack of lifting mechanisms prevent development of tropical systems.
I’m not sure what lifting mechanisms are but they apparently are not there.
That’s what is going on in our hood so looking now north to the west coast of America where high pressure continues to bring pleasant weather to the entire west coast.
Southern California will see some moisture from the remnants of tropical storm John bringing the potential for showers and thunderbumpers across the southland today and tomorrow. Temperatures in the San Diego area will remain in the mid 80s the rest of the week.
Looking now over to the southwest where a very moist and unstable monsoon airmass will continue to cover the region through the weekend leading to the chance of mainly afternoon and evening showers and thunderbumpers each day.
That’s what is going on to the north of us back on this side of the Fence the Sea in general will have moderate winds today.
In the northern Sea today and tomorrow light to moderate SW. Saturday NW
The central Sea today and tomorrow moderate NE Saturday NW
The southern Sea for the next 3 day should see light to moderate NW winds
Right now it looks like the Sonoran coast will see strong westerly’s on Saturday making a northern crossing on Saturday uncomfortable.
Temperatures today should be in the low to mid 90s again.
