Voice to Text---
.Looking down into the Sea this morning this image is showing the skies have pretty much cleared in the southern Sea this morning south to about Puerto Escondido.
North of there are still some remnant clouds from thunderbumper activity in the central and northern Sea yesterday afternoon and earlier this morning.
The general flow of clouds in the Sea this morning is from west to east and I can see that there was a cell develop in the northern crossing early this morning and drift over the Guaymas area and is dissipating right now with just some cloudiness over that area. They had a 1/10 of rain this morning and 1.33 inches yesterday.
There were some thumpers that developed just north of Santa Rosalia yesterday afternoon and drifted east over the Sea and dissipated around Puerto Panesco.
The follow is from a blogger in La Paz.
“Yesterday, beginning just past 11AM Los Cabos was pasted by heavy showers which precipitated flash flooding. The highway between Sam Jose and Cabo San Lucas was closed in several placed for mud washing into the road way and accidents. Taxi and shuttle service was halted and more than a meter of something flowed in front of Riu Place blocking the only entrance/exit. This system has moved north and continues to deliver showers along the eastern side of Baja. La Paz and Todos received very little rain.”
Interesting I checked several of the hotel stations at Cabo and the most rain they reported was a half inch. So it must have come down hard for only a short time.
As I mentioned during the night the southern Sea has cleared but it looks like Cabo had a gully washer yesterday morning. He also reported flash flooding in the arroyos between Loreto and El Rosario.
Looking at this morning’s sat images it would appear that the central Sea will clear later this morning. Not too sure about the northern Sea. Yuma radar this morning was showing just a few returns around Puerto Panesco.
Water vapor imagery is showing a surge of moisture moving up the Gulf this morning and I’d expect to see thunderbumpers build over Sonora this afternoon and evening hours.
That’s what is going on in the Sea. Looking south to the Mexican Riviera where from a bit past Mazatlan all the way south to the Tehuantepec there has been cells develop over land and then move out into the Sea overnight. There are currently numerous squalls all along the coast.
There is absolutely nothing cooking in our Tropical Kitchen this morning and I am unable to see any Tropical Waves moving in from the east and none have shown up in the Pacific.
So it looks like that is what is going on in our hood so looking now north to the west coast of America where it looks like it is overcast for most of the coast this morning.
In general with west will begin a cooling trend into the middle of next week due to a trough of low pressure that will move in from the Pacific.. That being said southern California will be rather hot and humid this weekend with thunderbumpers developing in the mountains and the California deserts. They could see some flash flooding today and then a gradual decrease in thunderbumper activity into next week.
Looking now over to the southwest where the monsoon is forecast to continue to monsoon. Thunderbumper and shower activity is expected to be heavy today with a slight decrease over the next five days. Temperatures will gradually rise through early next week.
That’s what is going on to the north of us. Back on this side of the Fence wind-wise they will be light to moderate for the 3-day forecast period except in those areas that have thumpers near them.
The southern Sea has pretty much cleared and this image viewed a few minutes ago is showing the central Sea clearing. There are still a lot of remnant clouds in the northern Sea. That could be slow to clear today.
With the cloud cover mostly gone temperatures will inch up a few degrees today and be in the mid to high 90s. It could be a decent solar day.
