Voice to Text---
.Looking down into the Sea this morning I can see that after the northern Sea cleared late yesterday morning the entire Sea has been pretty much cloud free since then. Early yesterday morning the reporting stations were still reporting 30 knot winds in some locations after the thumpers that came though around midnight.
Looking over to Sonora I can see there was very little thunderbumper activity over there in the past 24 hours. Mostly just some cloudiness moving north toward Arizona.
Looking south the southern crossing is free of any storms or cloudiness.
Looking further south there is no spot between Puerto Vallarta and Central America that is not either cloudy or has a thumper over it.
Looking now in our Tropical Kitchen I did a bit of research and was unable to find an Atlantic hurricane that crossed over Mexico weakened a bit and reemerged in the Pacific. That looks like what is happening right now. Hurricane Ernesto is reemerging in the Pacific around Acapulco this morning as a remnant low in an area that is environmentally friendly for tropical cyclone development. This will be our next tropical storm. The name could continue to be Ernesto or the next name on the Pacific list Hector. We’ll see?
The other item now on the back burner in our Tropical Kitchen
Is tropical storm Gilma which is now about 1000 miles SW of the cape and headed toward Hawaii. She is a short timer as she is now in much cooler waters.
The only other item is a Tropical Wave that is now out in the Gulf of Mexico after leavening Cuba yesterday. It will probably show up here late Sunday or Monday.
That’s what is going on in our hood so looking now north to the west coast of America where high pressure will continue to keep things hot throughout the weekend. As the high weakens this weekend it will start to cool off along the coast first as the high slowly moves east.
Temperatures today will be much like yesterday: Portland 93, Sacramento valley 104, southern California around 90 today.
In southern California they will probably see some showers or thunderbumper in the deserts and higher elevations today and increasing next week.
Looking now over to the southwest which will not see any relief from the heat until the high moves east early next week. Meantime Tucson will see near recordo highs ver the weekend with 106-107 today. Yuma always the hot spot will reach 115 today. Starting tomorrow they should start to see a bit more moisture in the region and the return of the monsoon next week.
That’s what is going on to the north of us. Back on this side of the Fence it looks like the Sonoran coast south to Mazatlan will see the strongest winds in the Sea today and they will be around 20 knots.
The Baja side both the northern and central Sea will see moderate northerlies over the weekend then we should see a return of the moderate southerlies on Monday.
The southern see should see a return of the southerlies starting tomorrow.
As far as temperatures, it is warming up. Most highs today will be in the high 90s with several locations topping the century mark.
