Voice to Text---
.Looking down into the Sea this morning looking down into the Sea this morning it looks like the entire Sea is overcast this morning.
There was considerable thunderbumper activity in Sonora yesterday afternoon and last night. The overcast in the Sea this morning are remnant clouds from these storms.
Yuma Radar is showing showers in the Sea from Puerto Panesco west to San Filipe early this morning.
I can see that last night there were several large cells that built just south of the international border with most of the thunderbumper staying this side of the Fence but there was still a lot of thumpers in the Tucson area and to the east of Tucson.
At around 5:30 there was a large cell that had moved from Hermosillo to Guaymas however neither of the Guaymas/San Carlos stations were reporting any rain from this cell.
Looking to the southern end of the Sea it looks like that region is now clearing after a lot of clouds passed over during the night.
Looking now along the Mexican Riviera where around Manzanillo there is a large squall that has been building off shore for the past several hours. At 7am it was still a there.
For the rest of the Riviera all I can see is some isolated patches of remnant clouds from storms that developed back in the mountains overnight.
Taking a look now in our Tropical Kitchen where we have a couple of Tropical Waves. One is well west of Cabo Corrienties around 117W and there are just a few clouds in that vicinity. It has been designated invest 91E and the forecast models show it’s path well west of any land.
The other is further south and it looks like it is trying to snuggle up to a 1009 low that is around 9N this morning. There are a few showers in that area.
There is another Tropical Wave that is just moving into the Yucatan peninsula this morning. It should arrive here in the basin late Sunday or Monday.
That’s what is going on in our hood so looking now north to the west coast of America where sunshine will be the order of the day for the entire west coast. Along the coast the temperatures will be in the mid 70s and in the high 80s for the inland valleys.
High pressure is rebuilding along the coast and this will give cause to a reduction in fog along the coast and slightly warmer temperatures.
Southern California will also see the return of monsoonal moisture bringing a chance of thunderbumpers to the mountains and southern California deserts.
Looking now over to the southwest where monsoonal moisture will increase from the east today with ample moisture persisting into next week. Chance of thunderbumpers will increase today with better chances tomorrow. All next week the monsoon will be very active.
That’s what is going on to the north of us. Back on this side of the Fence it looks like the northern Sea will be a bit gusterly today with SE winds to almost 30 knots in the San Filipe area. The next two days look like the very moderate ranges from the SE in the northern sea.
For the central Sea including San Franciscito Bay the winds should be from the east or northeast and be in the moderate ranges for the 3-day forecast period.
The southern Sea should see moderate southerlies for the 3-day forecast period with the exception of the Loreto/Puerto Escondido area which will see ballpark 20 knot southerlies today and then back to the moderate ranges Sunday and Monday.
The water vapor imagery is showing lots of moister in the air and I’d expect to see the thunderbumper activity in mountains along the Baja coast pick up a bit over the weekend.
Temperatures today will be in the high 80s to the mid 90s for most locations.
