Voice to Text---
.Looking down into the Sea of Cortez this morning I can see that most of the Sea will be cloudy today.
Along the ITCZ/monsoon trough from around 100w to way out to around 150 there is considerable convection building. A rather brisk west/east flow in the basin is bringing all this convection to around 120 where it heads directly NE toward the Baja coast. The cloud mass has doubled in size since yesterday morning and stretches from around 8N to central California this morning.
Yesterday morning I thought that the mountains along the Baja peninsula would block these clouds from passing over into the Sea. Wrong! This morning most of the Sea is blanketed with multi level clouds.
These clouds extend eastward and cover most of the Sonoran coast this morning as well.
What a difference a day makes.
Looking south to the Mexican Riviera where it looks like Mazatlan will see some cloudiness starting later this morning. Numerous scattered bands of clouds are breaking off of the main plume and are drifting toward the mainland coast and it looks like all along the Mexican Riviera they will from time to time see patches of cloudiness.
The web cams showed overcast in this Sea as well as along the Riviera this morning.
Looking now at the Gulf of Tehuantepec where the Gale advisories have been lifted however the winds will continue to be in the 25-30 knot ranges today. The winds will decrease to around 20 knots tomorrow as the gradient decreases. Friday the winds are forecast to be less than 20. Early next week could be the first comfortable crossing dates.
That’s about it for our hood so looking now north to the west coast of America where at the top of this image I can see a big honk’n low moving down the British Columbia coast this morning. The folks in the Great Northwest will be putting away their golf clubs and bringing out the umbrellas until early next week after two days of sunshine.
Northern California will see rain along the coast and the inland valleys starting later today and tomorrow. Snow levels will dip to around 6000 feet tonight into tomorrow and affect travel in the Sierra passes. Thunderbumpers are forecast from the bay area to Sacramento and the foothills this afternoon. Winds over the passes are forecast to reach 50 mph later this afternoon and tonight. The Storm will pass to the east on Thursday evening.
Looking south I can see the other low swirling about 300 miles off the southern California coast. It will move ashore later this morning bringing rain, heavy at times, to southern California. This is a very wet system picking up a lot of tropical moisture from the moisture plume moving up the Baja peninsula. They could see as much as an inch and a half of rain before the system passes to the east tomorrow.
Looking now over to the southwest where I can see that the moisture plume from the Pacific has moved over southern and up into Nevada and into western Arizona this morning. The clouds will thicken during the day and blanket the area by this evening.
A considerable 24 hour temperature swing in many locations. For example the forecast high for Tucson today is 94 and tomorrow around 79 after record highs of 101 and 100 on Sunday and Monday.
The Pacific Storm will move into Arizona early tomorrow bringing a good chance of rain to the region. Strong winds will proceed the front tomorrow morning.
The system will exit the region on Thursday night and then dry and warm conditions are forecast into the weekend.
Well, spring storms to the north of us and probably as far south as Ensenada tomorrow.
Back on this side of Fence that cloudiness blanketing the Sea gave us a great sunrise this morning painting a mirror smooth Concepcion Bay brilliant shades of orange, red and fuchsia.
Today the sea will be seeing moderate winds. Tomorrow the northern Sea will continue to see moderate winds however the central Sea will see brisk to strong winds tomorrow. The southern Sea will continue to see moderate winds over the 3-day forecast period.
The overcast kept most of the sunrise temperatures about the same as yesterday however most of yesterday’s highs were down a few degrees from the day before. All in all a very pleasant day.
Today will be overcast and the temperatures in most locations in the Sea will be in the mid to low 80s.
