New Beginings

By: GardenGrrl , 8:19 AM GMT on July 16, 2008

Some days I see God as "The Flying Spaghetti Monster". Some days I see GOD in capital letters. Mostly I just mutter and talk "to whom it may concern, in charge of the universe". If a voice actually spoke back I would probably call 911 and ask them to come get me.

It seems though that God speaks through how we view the world and what we surround ourselves with. Yes I've been quite sad lately with losing a friend and will continue to feel sad. I've learned sometimes love means making very hard decisions. Sound solid reason acted on love for all concerned. With that there comes great sadness, but the guilt fades quickly.

The other morning there was a beautiful sunrise. I grabbed my camera. It was followed by hummingbirds and little baby birds coming to my yard. Then for no apparent reason a rainbow appeared. It was a day started with new beginings and maybe time to start a new chapter in my life.

Blessed Be.

Hello there, how has the weekend been?
I went visiting with my aged relatives, both in their early 80's and still walk everywhere. They insisted on taking me to the next village where they have a beautiful display of flowers and won the "Village in Bloom" title just last weekend.

Hello GG. Why is it always easier to say hello than goodbye? I'm glad to see that you think someone is in charge of the universe because sometimes I wonder if there is. Usually I think so, but occasionally I just see something and wonder. Glad to see you're back.

Good to see you back! Being in nature for me has always been the best healer of all wounds and heartaches. The point is that you have to keep looking for the good, to allow oneself to be inspired. I think sometimes after losing a loved one, we fell guilty when a happy moment comes, as if we start living life again we will forget them and we want to hang on, thus the grieving process. But life does go on whether we want it to or not, and with time I hope you find more thing in nature to soothe your pain~

Hi and thank you so much everyone for your support and kindness. My Mom was telling me how impressed she is with the caring and warmth that comes from wuba members. I agree. Many of the people that bring light to the world hang out in this part of cyberspace.

Hi Proserpina! That is a beautiful poem. I was telling Sandi that her poem about "The Lord God Planted A Garden would be a neat art project. As I re-read the one you put in I'm starting to see a theme for a new garden with poems and roses. Thanks.

Hi Shore! Again, thank you for your support. I still want to see the pictures you took of your flowering cactus. All things that celebrate life are welcome posts here.

Sandi! You have started something. I now know what the new garden theme will be. Thanks.

aSigiam! Thank you. Hope you post new pictures of your garden soon. Perhaps another frame worthy picture of your vegetables. The green bean pic was so cool!

GG -
I have lived by a phrase my Mum always quoted ...
"You are nearer to God in a garden than anywhere else on earth"

I have since found out that it comes from a poem called "The Lord God Planted a Garden"
By Dorothy Frances Gurney (1858-1932)

THE Lord God planted a garden
In the first white days of the world,
And He set there an angel warden
In a garment of light enfurled.

So near to the peace of Heaven,
That the hawk might nest with the wren,
For there in the cool of the even
God walked with the first of men.

And I dream that these garden closes
With their shade and their sun-flecked sod
And their lilies and bowers of roses,
Were laid by the hand of God.

The kiss of the sun for pardon,
The song of the birds for mirth,
One is nearer God's heart in a garden
Than anywhere else on earth.

Sorry you are feeling blue, but walk in your garden, watch the sunrise, the birds and the rainbow, and you will soon be wrapped in healing powers:))

Take care:))

GardenGrrl ~

"Then for no apparent reason a rainbow appeared"... As always, the operative word here is "apparent". Believing there is a reason is a good bit of what keeps me going.

Good to see you back.

The tapestry of life's story is woven
with the threads of life's ties
ever joining and breaking.
