Besides visiting family, going to "The Wizarding World of Harry Potter" was my main reason for going to Florida. Loved the books, loved the movies, this attraction did not disappoint.
We totally lucked out in that it wasn't very crowded due to threats of rain. Yes it did rain while we were there and that is why I brought my beater camera and water-proof Olympus pocket camera.
Here is Hogwarts Castle. It is huge.
Arriving on the Hogwarts Express. Okay, it doesn't move but it is great for photo ops.
Inside the Hogwarts Castle is a really wild ride called the Forbidden Journey. People either came off the ride saying "Woooohooo best ride ever!" or they looked a bit pale. I get motion sick so skipped this one. However, if you go to Harry Potter World, just get in line for this ride and bail at the end where you can exit before getting on. The line is a walk through the castle and it is really neat. Dark too so most of the photos are not great. Here is the area with all the talking pictures.
This is Hogsmeade Village. Yes, the buildings are a titch cattywumpus.
HoneyDukes the famous candy store.
Of course there are characters running about.
Over at the Flight of the Hippogriff ride you will find Hagrid's Hut.
It really is fun. There are lots of nooks and crannys to poke about in. Even if you don't like rides, go a ways into the lines to find more fun scenery from the movies.
About Butter Beer. Butter Beer rocks. It is kind of a creme soda on steroids. First they pour the soda part. Next, a thick frothy cream is put on top. Regardless of how careful you drink it gives you a white mustache. The surprise is that if you do find a straw (which they tell you not to do) and stick it into your Butter Beer it will have the "mentos effect" and overflow like a volcano. Magic!
Hi GG, Butter beer sounds super to me! I love creme soda. Your pictures are all great, especially the castle, the overcast skies are the perfect backdrop. The frames are a fun detail, too.
One of my friends has tickets for the Harry Potter experience here in the UK at the Warner Brother's Studio. Her hubby bought the tickets for her birthday, next weekend.
I have seen that SKY premiere movie channel here in the UK is showing all the HP films in order over the weekend, beginning at noon! Brilliant for me, I can sit and watch them all through again, and stay out of mischief whilst C heads north to see his mum!
PS - I shall have to make a chocolate cake to nibble on!! lol

Thanks for sharing your photos, as I'll probably never get there. It sure looks true to the movie. I thought the movies were pretty true to the books too. I remember sitting in the theater during the first Harry Potter movie and thinking, "this is just how I imagined it!"
The new book I'm reading is something you might like. It's called Wesley the Owl, written by Stacey O'Brien. It also says...the remarkable love story of an owl and his girl. Two friends at work have read it. A friend of mine bought it and wanted to dedicate it to our school as we have a barn owl on display in the media center. A former parent, who used to work at the Naval Weapons Station across the street from the school, found it on the side of the road, deceased. He took it to a taxidermist and had it made with its wings outstretched. The kids love it.
Anyway, the book is really written for adults, not kids, but both my friends enjoyed it. I'm only about 40 pages in, but it has me hooked!

Brrrrr it's chilly out this morning, 39f. Todays the long work week and then another vacation to Oklahoma to hopefully see changing leaves.
Hi Weatheringpoints, I guess the Trekkies across the pond have a bit of a sense of humor. The baby elephant really is one of those, great happy ending stories :)
Hi Sandi, I had no idea the UK had a Harry Potter world too. Neat. Now I have one more reason I want to make a grand tour through England.
Hi Karen, I have a ton of Barnes & Noble gift cards, so one of these days I'll have to run over and take a look at that book. It sounds like one of those feel good books that I'm fond of.

Poor Roxie. Tormented for the amusement of humans. Well, it definitely works - I'm smiling! What a mellow pup she must be ... which isn't exactly how I'd imagined her ;) The last pic with captions is the best. Cats might stand for it but only because it is an excuse for retribution.
Don't think I've stopped to say how much I enjoyed the trip through Harry Potter World with you. Thanks! Looks like a fun place and I just watched the end of one of the movies a few minutes ago which doubly makes me want to go there. Also, you may not be Roxie-level cute but you're alright :)

What a corgi will do to play tug-a-war!! My friends corgi is crazy over her ball.
Harry Potter world is pretty cool, the attention to detail is amazing. I loved the books, but I am one of the few who did not care for the movies. I haven't seen them all yet though.
T he nursery move has come to a halt. We need to trench for water lines and electrical before the big shade structure is moved. The nursery cats are in limbo, they don't know where to go so they have taken residence in the warehouse. The guys love them so I guess it will be okay. I miss them though :)

Hi All, have to keep this brief. We are getting ready to load the car and head out for a bit. Going for long drive today to look at leaves.
Hi Rob, those wands are a rip-off I only got half a frog dog.
Hi Sandi, I told Roxie what you said and the photo caption was her answer.
Hi Sp, actually Roxie will sit still to play dress up. If it's not hot out she actually likes having clothes on. Seems to calm here down. That's why after all the play instead of trying to paw the costume off she jumped up in my lap for a quick snooze.
hi Uncle Mush, yeah I lucked out finding her. She is always a grin.
Hi Tony, Have you ever thought of giving Abbey a jumbo size bandana to wear around her neck for special occaisions?
Hi Calpoppy, Roxie pretty much will do anything if it means people will coo over her. She likes trying on stuff at Petsmart because she gets an audience. Glad your nursery cats got adopted somewhere thats stable during all the "upset" to their home.
Okay see ya all later :-D

Read where Corgis are the 11th smartest breed in all Dogdom(Basset Hounds aren't even listed, but they have a different kind of smart!). A local breeder has Corgi pups for sale(one looks like a miniature Roxy), but we're not even considering another dog until our two cats pass on. Too much energy for them!
Hope you're having a good trip!

Look at you! I just found the photo corners over at picmonkey, and here you have them already.
I hope your leaf-peeping was fun. Did you see any alligators? When I was driving home, I heard on one of the DFW radio stations that there have been sightings of a monster in Lake Lewisville. Some people thought it was a gator, but I saw there tracks and it's not alligator. Well, unless one met with a terrible accident. There was no imprint of a tail. ;)
I found this before I left for Kansas and am just now getting it over here. I laughed and laughed when I saw it - of course the bonsai made me think of you.

Leaves!! I want to see leaves. I took a picture of a bright yellow tree on our recent trip to the SD Zoo Safari Park. If I can figure out how to link photos here I'll show you. It was a bright spot amid all the green. I reopened my blog with lots of animal pics. Wander over when you have a few minutes!
(Can't figure out how to link photos using an iPad. Tried a couple of things.....didn't work!)
OK, on the PC now....here it is!

Hi Tony, yeah, there is so much detail that one really could take days to really see the whole thing.
Hi Ylee, no union suit yet but I do happen to be wearing my "Mad Scientists Union" t-shirt this morning.
Are you still enjoying our crisp clean Canadian air.
Have a good day.
Enjoy your day.
Hi Tony, it's going to warm up for a minute here.
Hi Ylee, couldn't get to the chem transfers yesterday. Am thinking of drawing a pumpkin face on my yellow hazmat suit today :)

Weathering, you win with the Harry Potter cat.
Because it's Halloween and I can't resist tormenting the dog with costumes, here's Roxie as Frog Dog;
After the first pictures she got her rope. Fairs fair.
We made up for the silly costume by playing tug-a-war.
Then she was tired.
Poor Roxie - but at least she doesn't seem to mind too much. I am envisaging the scratches I would get if I tried to 'dress' up Blue! lol
But cute!
What a mellow pup she must be ... which isn't exactly how I'd imagined her ;)
