They'er Back. Saw my forst Black Chinned hummingbird of the season on the 21st. Since then the temps have dipped into the 40's so I imagine the little guy is doing his torpor thing somewhere.
Saw a video of a hummingbird in torpor. They just kind of shut down and go into a deep sleep. The one in the video went into torpor at a feeder. The wind blew and he slipped backwards feet still clinging to feeder but stayed attached upside down like a tiny bat. Was really funny.
So haven't finished the irrigation project. Went from the 70's to 40's and rainy this weekend. Hope for good weather this week so I can call that project done.
So in the meantime how about some plant talk and general bloggery. Here is a great link for plants that do well in the North Texas heat that Shore put in my last blog. I totally agree with it.
Great Texas Garden Plants
