A change in the weather this morning, overcast, threat of showers, total calm, temp a nice 11C, will rise into high teens as the day moves along. Showers and light rain being forecast for a couple of days, weekend looking better with sun in the forecast, temps remaining moderate.

Donna catching up on the planting, and cleaning up debris in her various gardens, will move over to maintenance with the odd addition being required over the next little while.

Business in Fredericton this morning, quick trip arrive for the information session, attempt to be on the road in time to make the 5:30PM trip. Travelling with no reservation these days very risky, first trip yesterday resulted in many vehicles, trucks and cars being left behind on the first trip out of Blacks Harbour.

Lobster fishery in Nova Scotia, in some locations, shutdown due to glut of critters, In PEI processors unable to get enough workers to keep up with the catch. Local catch still being landed in ever increasing numbers, Emily's group hard at it, a couple of the ladies on the side with various ailments, making their daily production somewhat smaller than expected.

Dear Rob:

So far today we have excellent weather. A bit of cloud, nice and warm, not many bugs. This makes ideal gardening weather for sure. It has promised us some 'drizzle' for later on. I hate to say it but we could use it. The Southern tip of N.B. is apparently under a fire ban due to no moisture. This would be amazing to me, in that there is still ice in the sawdust pile down at my woods yard?? Guess the old timers had it right that sawdust was a great insulator.

I hope that Rob does get selected to stay at the place where he did his practicum. Honestly, if no one gives you a chance to start out then how can you improve and move on? As to the money aspect, I don't know how they make enough to keep an apartment, pay for food, etc. on what they make. Maybe down the road Cody and L'il Rob can start up a garage - Cody on mechanics and Rob the body guy. It would certainly give them a bit more income.

Well, the garden is calling my name before the 'drizzle' starts so I better get to.

Have a most excellent day and talk soon.

Word. Chunks.

Morning,
Fog and rain seem to be the forecast for a day or so. I got most of my gear baited up over the last 2 days. Time to take up some of the deeper water stuff and dry it out before shedders start to move about. Too many lobsters--who would have ever thought it possible? Perhaps it is time for the lobster processors to take a business management course or two. With all the lobster caught over the last few years how can you possibly not have a contingency plan in place for more lobsters then you expect. Guess I am just a narrow minded bug catcher looking out for my own interests. I feel sorry for those lobster men that only have a 8 week season.

From 4 PM Saturday until 30 minutes before sunrise Monday morning all state waters are closed to lobster fishing. That law was implemented many years ago.

Our jumbo price is on lobsters from 1.8 pounds to less then 5 pounds (or whatever the lobster weighs that is less then 5" along its carapace). I don't see very many lobsters close to the 5" along the carapace that weigh much more then 4 pounds or so. We toss lobsters over 5" along the carapace over the side and hope they have a very active sex life.

A nice day here and there and those are greatly appreciated and enjoyed. I could use a string of nice days to get in the summer mood.
