Forecast remains correct, a cool 2C with a NW breeze 20KPH giving a temp on the minus side, showers till this evening, clear for Fri. and Sat. more rain for Sunday. The warmer temps once again alluding the forecast with no indication of double digit plus temps for next several days at least.

Boats have been tied up with wind being a factor these last few days, however the price and catch levels remains to the liking of those capturing the critters. Weir building activity still low key, with nothing going on infront of the island, haven't heard of any building on back of the island either.

A windy, wet and cool afternoon underway a few miles north of ya, getting a bit brighter this afternoon, expected to clear by this evening, temps to drop near if not below the freezing level, clear for a couple of days then back to wet, getting a bit much.

A fair number of traps to tend, hope your electronics don't crash, had one local guy fishing a double gang forgot he had a string for most of the season, too many to keep track off, even with electronics, when not accustomed to such numbers.

I have retired from one career, RCMP in Western Canada, after twenty-five years 'come home', and have continued to answer the gong ever since, but at least 'at home'. Like you have not regretted any to the decisions, all good, a change is always interesting.

Don't know what the bait situation is like locally, however frozen bait is a staple for most during the winter months. Connors Bros. freeze large numbers over the summer/fall get more $ for bait than food fish these days. When packing the 'cuttins' used for fresh bait, again this by-product was ground for fertilizer, bait better financial return it seems.
Haven't heard of any herring being landed in Novie or off on Georges. A bit early for netting herring around PEI, those guys prefer netted fish they feel scale loss makes the bait less attractive to the critter.

Have a good one.
