Mother Nature continues to have a sense of humour on this April Fools Day. Overcast, wind still howling from the north @ 30-35KPH to strengthen to near 60KPH or better before slacking off this evening. Temps might stagger over the freezing mark over the next day or so, better temps and sun by end of the week, with showers expected for the weekend.

Heavy sleet down covering the yard, no reports what is going on with mainland conditions. Rob mentioned things in St. John not very pleasant with high winds, freezing rain and sleet also last evening. Bernice still waiting her turn to get out of the shop.

Mornin David, best the boat left where she is for awhile yet, no let up for a few days, then no indication of great temps or extended days of sun, quite a spell for sure.

Tony & Jeremy hoping to get trawl in the water by the weekend to see if any halibut about, iffy at the moment. They have been overhaulin gear, but snow a problem getting at the trap yard. He mentioned last year they had them in the water by this time. Water temp locally still very low in the 2C area, nothing out of the rivers as yet, lots to come when and IF the melt does occur.

Lobster price remains in the $6.50 area, a good price, don't believe the tankhouses have any inventory on hold. At these prices crate run works and gives the operators a chance to clean up the facility to hold some over the summer. Quite a crowd, it seems, considering hitting the 'grey zone' this summer, lots of gear, small area a recipe for conflict.

Stay warm and keep the snow shovel handy.

Mornin CHUNKS, weather continues to be the subject of conversation with a large amount of shoulder shrugs, swearing and blank stares. We have had near gale force winds for days, rain, sleet, fortunate very little freezing rain. Still no quick fix, weather looks to remains similar till end of the week, then rain starting off the new week. A little bit goes along ways, when one is looking for a patch of green here and there. Guess that is enough venting on something we have no control over, and one must expect this time of year and this location.

Ferry has not missed a beat, some that have travelled say it is nasty, others marvel on what a great sea boat the ADVENTURE is, and enjoy travelling on her. She certainly has made trips the V would not have attempted. Travelling on schedule, and traffic no problem. Have no reports of what is going on the mainland, however hear some folks without power and can expect to be so for a few days in some cases.

A rumour is about that Spring is in the area, but certainly being stand offish.

Have a good one.
