Winter still very evident, temp has moderated to some degree at -5C, NW15-20KPH giving a windchill near double digits, clear. Weather conditions to remain similar for next day or so with moderation by weeks end and possible rain for the weekend.

The big chill in the west continues, however a slight change for the better windchill factor this morning a mere -35C, yesterday around the -50C level. That part of the world also looking forward to moderation over next few days.

Lobster fishing has been at a standstill with the combination of high winds and low temps keeping them tied up. The boats preparing for scalloping will be hard at it with the break in the weather. Some traps still to come home before next Tuesday.

We have high wind today and it is getting colder. A big difference from yesterday. I managed in that window of opportunity to get the outside Christmas decorations down and put by the fire to completely dry. Shovelled off the lip of the roof line and the boys got the ice out of the gutter. Went to the government garage and got the free sand, mixed with salt, and added that to the driveway. After an hour it was softened up enough that the boy and I could get a lot of built up stuff off the drive. A full day for sure.

Sunday, rent-a-kid and I went for a snowshoe at the INP. The surf was terrific, even though there was not a puff of wind, and the sun was full on. We were actually too hot with the clothes we chose to wear for the event.

Last night we had snow thunder. That would be a first time hearing that for me.

It sure is whacky weather. Where it is going next? - who knows.

Well, more Christmas take down (inside) the event of the day so better get to it before more company arrives.

Have a good one
