A dramatic change weather conditions from yesterday, overcast, a southerly draft, damp a harbinger of showers later in the day. Temp a modest 14C, not expected to rise too much, showers with clearing for next tomorrow then damp next few days.

Emily starts a new career in the kitchen this morning, along with house sitting and cleaning at the same time. Certainly busy for the next little while. Rob in hiatus till school starts in a couple of weeks, will take some of his 'stuff' to his digs later in the week, when weather permits.

Fishing news remains quiet, some indication the Grey Zone is producing, no comment on the quality of the critters being captured.

Torrential thunderstorms here in Niagara Falls today.
Great news about the paint being donated for Swallowtail. Can't wait to watch the web cams I was hoping for fresh scallops in mid September.
How is the outside work coming on the nursing home?

Dear Rob:

Blarg! on the one boat thing. Oh well, that is a sure sign of the fall weather for me.

It has just started to rain here at noon. It is a very gentle rain - not torrential. The gardens, woods, etc., could use it. Gardening yesterday produced more dust than dirt.

The kids hired at work this summer are also getting ready to leave for parts near and far away. They are all so keen to start a new chapter in their lives, when they come home for Christmas break, they all look shell shocked. The real world is not all fun and games.

Well, have a great day and stay dry. Maybe I will get something accomplished indoors today.

Mornin CHUNKS, overcast, with the moisture not too far off, humidity very high and southerly should bring any headed our way in short order, still a hint it might clear, will be what it will be for sure.

Swallowtail getting lots of visitors, speaking with Kenney on Friday the restoration project will be getting under way very shortly. The foundation is the first thing, will be the first work done since it was placed there near 150 years ago. The tradesman of the day knew what they were doing. Paint for the tower has been donated by PITTSBURGH PAINT, and has begun to arrive, all good stuff.

Still seems to be a good number of folks finding the island, this late in the season a good thing. Suspect the older group will show up once school starts. Will be down to one ferry, the GRAND MANAN V the ADVENTURE leaves for refit in NFLD on 8 SEP 13.

Have a good one.

Mornin David, quite a weather change, have had the Novie shore very evident all day yesterday so any wet weather will not be a surprise. Moisture in the forecast for next couple of days, U.S. guy saying intermittent, will have to wait and see.

Plan was to move grandson to St. John end of the week, moisture and bedding not a good mix, if not the weekend looking good.

Seems the fishing on the American Shore up this way up, soft shell, price way down, funny how that works. Herring news quiet, but lots of whale and sea bird activity continues. Water temp near 12C, a temp a very few years ago we would hit for a brief period in late September then begin to drop back in a hurry. Things they are a changing.

More activity in the trap yards around the island, many buoys being painted, traps being overhauled, etc. Believe the scalloping, for mid-bay license, is shutdown with the quota being caught up. Lots of boats at the resource for a smaller quota, doesn't go far.

Have a good one.
