Another warm one underway, clear, total calm, temp 20C, weatherman suggesting a high of 23C, mainland near 30C, suspect we will have a higher reading than forecast. No moisture in the forecast for the remainder of the week.

Rob out the door at 0700, Emily having a change of duties, will be working at the Anchorage for the next little while.

Fishng news fairly quiet, grey zone reports not great, also lobster price in the $3lb range, halibut quota not caught as yet, appears a couple more days may wind that up. Weirs have been catching a few on the back of the island only a couple in working condition on front, they have produced a few, nothing at the moment.

Hot as the hinges of Hades with little breeze to help us out. East side of island while hauling this morning was a scorcher, hauling on west side of island nice little sea breeze. Not much relief in sight. Rachel in Philly has temp of 95 with heat index of 106. One moves from AC to AC in that world.

Not much moving in traps but price headed towards last year's price it would seem. The two companies that now own the processing plant in Prospect Harbor seem to be the first ones to drive the price down.

Fish trap not showing much as hard to set it where the seals don't drive everything away. What does go in the trap gets chewed to pieces before the trap can get hauled. Guess everyone has to make a living.

Dear Rob:

Holy Mackeral - it is hot!! Currently, at 1:32, it is 33.2 in the shade themom. One can hardly stand it. Wind - non existence. Me and the cats will be doing inside work until later this afternoon.

Wish I had been with buddy when he got to see the whales. What a treat for him - even if he has 'been there, did that' before. Thanks for the info on the sharks. I will ask Laurie, when over, how that one turned out.

Celebrated son's 21st birthday yesterday and all were suggesting that he was lucky he made it this far, he is such a daredevil, not to mention - unlucky. Lots of cake and luscious food. Everyone had a great time.

Well, off to attempt to do something without dying of heat. Stay cool and talk soon.

Word. Chunks.

Mornin CHUNKS, a picture perfect morning underway, all indications it might be a bit warm by dinner time. No draft off the water as yet, however anticipate the 'afternoon sou'wester' will come along and alleviate the temps to some degree at least.

Have reports of lots of whales below Gannet Rock, a couple of Right Whales in the mix. Told a humpback put on quite a show for a period of time, one of the halibut trawl guys just drifting had a ringside seat to the goings on.

The sharks are usually swept out of the weir using the seine, don't know if it this was the case this time around. Unusual to have that many animals in one place, must have chased the herring in and couldn't figure how to get out.

Have a good one.
