Wind has swung southerly, a modest 10-15KPH, temp 1C to rise mid single digits, overcast, with a hint of rain. The sun that was promised over the next few days no iffy with threat of showers nearly each day this week, but no snow, and temps near double digits by mid-week.
A few boats working yesterday, more traps being readied to hit the water. Lobster price near the $7/lb level will do that. A few boats scraping scallops in the 'grey zone', and doing quite well. A few boats from U.S.also in the area. Price still making the effort worthwhile, again an unusual situation for the price to remain worthwhile for such a longtime.
Emily back in residence at UNB, a brief txt announcing she had arrived last evening, nothing since. Lots to catch up on with the posse I'm sure.

Spring Break now in the books, the run dowwn to summer about to begin. Emily has applications around, she has been working at BOYS & GIRLS CLUB this past couple of summers, however hedging her bets as she will be available 1 MAY. Rob slated to return with M.G. FISHERIES, he has been getting a few hours this last little bit, all of which he finds BERNICE requires to keep her in fuel.
The wind has stopped howling this weekend, quite a run from NE, but can be expected this time of year. Good to see the gradual switch to the south, a sign of spring. Still no Brant word, Donna's dad advises 15 MAR is the date they show up in the harbour, but no indication they are around the Outer Islands. No flocks of geese, however lots of crows and a few more sea ducks all the time.
Have a good one.
ROB
Sun out for a while today but as we were travelling not a big chance to gather up some vitamin D. Rain for a day or two then sounds like some decent dry spring weather. I launch the boat Thursday, so by next Monday the $6 a pound lobster price will be headed south.
My neighbor and his son have found 6 dead razor billed auks in the last couple of weeks. One was a casualty of what looked like an eagle strike as it was all pulled apart while the other 5 seemed to be whole, just quite dead. He thinks the heavy and nasty weather of the last month took its toll. Any reports of similiar happenings on GM?
