A brief change in the weather getting underway this morning. The rain showers have been changed to RAINFALL ALERT, rain coming down heavy, strong southerly, to let up and clear by this evening. The longrange is for similar temps we have had over the past few weeks, sun and highs in mid -20's, rainfall needed.

Emily opening the daycare this morning, Rob off early to do what was on their agenda this morning.

The number of whales seems to have dropped off dramatically, no feed to toll them near the island. Possible after the tides drop back the numbers will return. A report of basking shark, and white sided dolphins being sighted past few days. Basking sharks apparently not that uncommon, one that was tagged here spent winter months around Cuba.

Dear Rob:

Hi! We are in torrential rain and have been since I left for work. This is so great I can hardly stand it. I actually have some plants that died for lack of water but due to the number of flower beds I have I just couldn't justify emptying the well every day. All the grass, except for ours, is burnt out. I knew it looked untidy but I wouldn't allow mowing until we got a significant rain. Everyone else mowed. I will have a small hay field if it starts to grow again.

I know what David means about all the businesses going to heck. And even if you have a job none of the companies are giving any raises and use the excuse of the bad economy. In reality, it is bad but they don't want to give up any of their luxuries so the way to get that is not giving raises except to themselves. I feel so bad for kids nowadays, and for our generation too. Like, how do you start over when you're 50+

Well, as this is the first rain we have had in weeks it is now time to give the house a good going through to make up.

Hope you have a great day. Word. Chunks.

Morning,
As my Dad would say, "weren't that a blister of a thunder storm?" All of which was my wake-up call about 5 AM accompanied by heavy rain. No need to water the garden today. Looking for something to do yesterday afternoon so I put 2 tiers of wood in the woodshed. That puts me about 3 months ahead of schedule. If the price of lobsters continues downward I will have the wood shed full by August 1.

Do squid make it up your way? They have been around here for 2 months or so in large quantities. Grey seals make having the fish trap out a waste of time but who needs bait when we are in such a hauling slowdown. We seem to have gone from being fishermen to lobster farmers and very successful farmers at that. Lobster is like wheat now, whereas a farmer gets pennies for a box of Cheerios and we likewise for bugs. Lots of us working on new business plans.

Emily will be home for a few days starting tonight. She can work from here for few days. If I had to have a real job I would look for one that allowed me to work from home from time to time.
